Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

God, you really do have to feel sorry for those footballers.

I saw him at OT yesterday. He got DROPPED OFF BY HIS MISSUS on Chester Road, outside the front of Lou Macari's chippy. I was gonna say "alright Chris lad" but thought better of it, as we were surrounded by neanderthals.

He's also not a fat *******. Always got the impression he was. He's very small.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The interviewer put it to him that, When Gerrard plays bad, people always blame his position on the pitch and Rafa etc, but when he plays well, people lavish praise on him and say notrhing about the management and the team.
Gerrard seem not to be able to do any wrong, to which Bascome agreed.
was at a loss to say why Liverpool are so poor at present.
Seems to be senior players at fault etc.
Xabi Alonso not having a good time of it may be effecting gerrard game, IMO more specifically the whole teams game.
Made comparrisons to last season regarding rotation and how nobody was saying anything becasue we were winning.

This thing about "rotation only being a problem when we're losing" is a bit of a misconception for me. It's the same as when Houllier used to play counter-attacking defensive football (hoof and run). When we were winning he could do no wrong but no-one was praising the way we played. when it fell apart he was rightly criticised because the team had become too predictable.
I think Rafa rotating for 90-odd games has developed a comfort zone for the players. There is limited competition for places because players know sooner or later Rafa will pick them and they don't fear being dropped anymore because they know it'll be temporary.

I dispute this really, a players aim should be to play every game, not just when Gerrard of Xabi fancy a rest. So it's still as much up to the player to try and oust the holder of the position, Agger was doing this to Hyypia until he got injured.

In the past though Morph, if you lost your place in the Liverpool team, there was no guarentee that you'd EVER play for LFC again. New signings had to virtually play a dozen reserve games before they got their chance.
OK the game has changed, but the players don't look hungry enough for me. Watching the Chavs play wigan summed it up for me. 2 keepers off injured but they scrapped and they battled and they won. When that final whistle went you could clearly see what that victory meant to them. I want that team spirit evident at LFC whereas our players seem to be coasting along.

No I agree with this, but thats a bit of a different point, that's more about the general mentality of the team which is most definitely off, and it really needs sorting.

I'd be tempted to take the squad on a team building exercise and let the kids play in the Carling Cup, and then bring the squad back fresh and invigorated.

Id like to see more pressure on Finnan, alonso, Riise and Gerrard.
I dont think the new signing are even nearly in a comfort zone, as they are settling in still. Agger has effectively applied some pressure on sammi and Carra, am at a loss to explain why their form is so average. Momo is boss and the attackers have enough competition to keep them on their toes.
I think the main source of our problem has been the experienced players not performing.
Cant say i liked Gerrard leadership skills at Old Trafford, he should be a leader, not a bitch.
