Highly-rated coach with a great CV, a bunch of youngsters with real promise...this can only be good news.

This was the offal's take on his appointment at the time:

Liverpool announced the appointment of Rodolfo Borrell as Academy Under-18s coach in July 2009.

Rodolfo graduated from Barcelona's INEF University with a degree before undertaking his UEFA Coaching qualifications.

The Spaniard joined Barcelona in 1996 and spent 13 years with the La Liga giants, making significant progress through the ranks of the Catalan's youth coaching system.

Rodolfo coached all age groups from under-11 to under-17 level at the Nou Camp, where he worked alongside Liverpool's Academy technical manager Jose Segura, as well as Pep Guardiola.

During his time at the club, Barcelona won nine league titles, three cup competitions, one National Championship and one World Club Championship.

Rodolfo helped develop well-known Barcelona players past and present such as Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique, Cesc Fabregas, Bojan Krkic and Giovanni Dos Santos, as well as many potential stars of the future, including Liverpool's own Daniel Pacheco.

In the summer of 2008, he joined Iraklis FC as first team coach and later spent time as caretaker manager at the Greek club.

After a short period he returned to Barcelona as technical secretary and youth scout until moving to Anfield.

Speaking about his switch to Liverpool, Rodolfo said: "When I heard about the opportunity to work with Jose Segura, who I already knew, at such a massive football institution as Liverpool, I felt so excited and honoured.

"Under Rafa and Frank, we have a great challenge but also a great opportunity at the Academy and I am delighted to be part of the project. I can't wait to get going."

Yep, and it's just as important we keep him, I reckon.

Very good news if true. Obviously difficult to know how successful he is being but we need some continuity at the Academy if it is ever to be successful.

This is good news, hopefully he can help develop some of our kids into class players
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Well not the real reason but if we develop players of the stated pedigree then it has to mean something for Liverpool's value.

At least it's nice to know that an architect of half the side playing in the World Cup Final is at Melwood
