Not quite the same, if you play a ball that puts someone into space and gives them time to put in a good cross, that is a little different.Originally posted by Icon View PostIsn't this a bit like crediting Pepe for rolling the ball to Carra, to pass to....?

Theres a reason why everyone says he's one of the best midfielders in the world. Also madrid wouldnt of offered 30mill if Alonso was as **** as those stats make him out to be. He played deep in defence mostly because thats where Benitez wanted him, which meant scoring goals and offering assists were extremely hard to do from back there. He still passed amazingly and he tackled like a legend.
Multiple players have said benitez forced him out, Alonso said benitez forced him into leaving by not wanting him, Benitez himself said he wanted to get rid of Alonso so he could get Barry. There is a HUGE difference between wanting to replace someone, and needing to find a replacement. Barry was a replacement. Aquilani was a forced replacement. Wanting to go back to spain because of tax reasons and because its his homeland arent good enough reasons. He could of stayed where he was but he left, and kept saying he was very happy at liverpool. Too much info to back up that Benitez unsettled him for Barry, and extremely little to say he's a ******* and wanted to leave.

So it's entirely clear: Rafa is a ******* for trying to replace Alonso with Barry after he'd had two not very good seasons and then for failing to persuade him not to leave after he'd had an excellent one and had the chance to earn more money in his home country..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I might be missing what your question really is after since I thought I gave my views on things.Originally posted by merlboo View PostAnd what about the other 4 key points?
If you mean these then lets see.. 1, I'm sure madrid werent the only ones who offered him a contract during the entire time he was with us. But he never accepted any until it was obvious Benitez didnt want him.1 ,you get offered a job back at home after working for 5 years away from home...
2 , doubling yer money with the lax tax laws in the process [from which you've been vociferous about] with one of the top companies in the world no less ...
3 , your new company is gonna shed some unprecedently ludicrous amounts on new employees at the top of their profession... and compete on all levels in your business fields ...
4, you ask your existing employers who are we bringing in to our company ?
2, Alonso never came off as the type who was after money. He never flaunted any wealth etc. And if he was after money he could of had multiple clubs bid for him back and forth till he got what he wanted. He went straight to madrid though.
3, The entire time he was with liverpool we never really spent lots on players. And the players we did spend lots on were mostly useless for us. The lack of top expensive players didnt seem to bother him before.
4, I dont know if that can be a point really. It seemed benitez only seemed to speak to gerrard about players.

Perhaps he wasn't all about the money, but he certainly delivered a warning about it with this interview just before he left:Originally posted by vlahka View Post2, Alonso never came off as the type who was after money. You have to remember though that at the time Barry had been playing better than Alonso. I realise it's an incredible thought but still...
It was a mistake of course and as dww says, it's believable Rafa could have done more to build bridges but even then we have no idea if that's true.
I have to say I'd never come across anyone who hadn't made a mistake until I started reading this site regularly..

I work away from home. I was in the Army and it never bothered me, and it doesn't bother me now. I was last home 6 months a go and could have gone home at any point during that time. Not everyone is the same.Originally posted by merlboo View Posthave you ever worked away from home ?
