I wish we would stop loaning young players to greek sides, belgian sides and dutch sides etc etc. Their leagues are much weaker and whats the point exactly? Send these players to the championship and if they are good enough they will prove it. And it would mean they are playing in English conditions which to me is the most important factor

abso****inglutely!!
would love to see players at teams that play football in the championship teams such as cardiff, leeds, leicester norwich etc would also keep them closer to going ons at anfield to.
although i think its becoming tougher to lend out young players as all the best teams want to do it now and sometimes it can have a de-stabilizing effect on the club that takes them_____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?
Think we have the answer..Slot!!

The championship no stronger than those leagues though, in some cases it is weaker and it certainly isn't a good comparison to playing in the Premiership.Originally posted by -V- View PostI wish we would stop loaning young players to greek sides, belgian sides and dutch sides etc etc. Their leagues are much weaker and whats the point exactly? Do you think conditions over the football season vary wildly in the Netherlands and Belgium compared to those in the UK?

yes but its a british club and therefore its easier for our coaching team to keep tabs on a player and go see the games etc.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostThe championship no stronger than those leagues though, in some cases it is weaker and it certainly isn't a good comparison to playing in the Premiership.

How many times do you think liverpool coaching staff saw nemeth last year?
if he was at leeds i am sure we would get to see him plenty more._____________________________________

It would be easier for young players to adapt to playing for Liverpool if they have experience in english football culture and the style of the english game. Also those leagues are considerably weaker than the Premiership so to be successful over their gives the players false hope that they can do the same in the premOriginally posted by Mattshark View PostThe championship no stronger than those leagues though, in some cases it is weaker and it certainly isn't a good comparison to playing in the Premiership.

I doubt it makes a difference. I would be surprised if we didn't have people watching him. Do you think we wouldn't be able to get tapes of his games in Greece or that we wouldn't have scouts there?Originally posted by red g View Postyes but its a british club and therefore its easier for our coaching team to keep tabs on a player and go see the games etc.

Yes, and he would have been playing at a much lower level and against inferior opposition.

Not really, they would be better off going to get the best standard of coaching and opposition they could. Playing somewhere like Leeds in league 1 is hardly preparation for the Premiership.Originally posted by -V- View PostIt would be easier for young players to adapt to playing for Liverpool if they have experience in english football culture and the style of the english game

I think there are arguments for and against foreign loans and I think to a large degree it depends on the player. All to often teams in the Championship are of the lump it up front and fight style which is never going to develop a young flair player, also the coaching at the likes of a top Greek team is probably better than most Championship teams. Added to the fact there may well be UEFA cup football available.
All of those things have to be balanced against the need for a PL player to be ready for a physical challenge and the fact that playing in English conditions with English referees etc is probably a help, added to the greater ease of us monitoring them. Although in the modern era of video analysis etc. I would suspect this is less of a problem than it once was."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

We should have sent a handful to Burnley last year and be doing the same to Blackpool this year.
