Here are Roy's thoughts on the game tonight, a bit pessimistic and seems to doubt we'll get a result, but hopes we perform well, a bit like playing for pride really...
Anyway here's the link :http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/lates...match-thoughts
and here's the C&P for those that cannot use the links..
Roy Hodgson admits he has been left frustrated by the fact he cannot field his World Cup stars in tonight's Europa League clash with FK Rabotnicki.

The Reds manager has named a youthful squad for the match at the Philips II Arena after many of the club's players who figured in the latter stages in South Africa were ruled out of the game due to a lack of match fitness.
"I couldn't have envisaged a more difficult situation than I find myself in at the start of my Liverpool career," said Hodgson.
"We've come to Skopje to play a qualifying game against a good opponent and I've had very little chance to work with the first-team.
"I've not had as many as 10 first-team players at my disposal. It couldn't be more difficult.
"You have to wonder why, in a World Cup year, a team from one of the top leagues in Europe has to play a qualifying match on July 29, when the players haven't returned from their holiday yet.
"Everyone knows you can't bring them off the beach, give them three days training and then throw them into a top-class team.
"We had no choice and as a result the team we field will be very different to the one we play against Arsenal on August 15."
Hodgson is anticipating a tricky encounter against Rabotnicki, but is hopeful Liverpool's youngsters can seize their chance and make a positive impact.
"Their Brazilian players are very skilful and have already shown what they can do in this competition so far," said the boss.
"They are a well organised team and they have played together for a long time - which we haven't.
"The fans will also play a part. It's Liverpool Football Club, so it's a big game in the history of their club.
"All those things will come together to make it a very difficult occasion tonight. We'll have to play very well to get a result."
Just to Add The bold bit at the bottom id from the same story but in the echo and Domonic King as added:
The club, meanwhile, are not looking to offload Maxi Rodriguez or allow Spanish striker Dani Pacheco leave on loan.

Seems incredible to hear a liverpool manager talk about a fixture like this in those terms, almost like it's an impossible task he's been given, but i suppose it's after a world cup, and players are'nt available to him because the medics say so, even though some have hardly played in the tournament.
It's a case of priorities i suppose, which is fair enough, still seems odd to hear a fixture of this size against a side of this stature talked about in such a pessimistic way.
Not that it would bother me much if we went out, and that's because of those priorties we have again, but it would be nice and beneficial to see the yongsters play and have a bit of a run in the comp.Last edited by Vermilion; 29-07-10, 12:45 PM.

I wish Roy would be a bit more assured about the players he has there, afterall they lads did not do too badly against a strong german team last weekend; Robitnik will be a similar team imo...and tonight he can field a stronger 11 than last Saturday..Originally posted by Vermilion View PostSeems incredible to hear a liverpool manager talk about a fixture like this in those terms, almost like it's an impossible task he's been given, but i suppose it's after a world cup, and players are'nt available to him because the medics say so, even though some have hardly played in the tournament.

I'll be watching and hoping the kids do themselves proud a draw would be a massive result for them even a 1-0 lose wouldn't be tragic.
If we use a mix of youth and experience throughout the team from defence to attack then we stand a good chance of getting a result and a positive one too, but if it's set up like the preseason games we'll have a hard time.. imo..
I feel confident the lads can get a positive result tonight... Might not win but will not be beaten by more than 1 goal (hopefully)...
Good luck I say .................and make us proud.

Such concerns, though, do not quite explain the sea-change in Hodgson’s mood. Questions over his preferred formation and how heavily the need to infuse Liverpool’s squad with English players to meet new Premier League regulations were affecting his thinking were given short shrift.
He refused to discuss the £2.5 million bid Liverpool have had accepted by Aston Villa for full-back Luke Young or the future of Maxi Rodriguez, the Argentina international who impressed in his first six months at Anfield but has, reportedly, been informed he would be allowed to leave should a suitable offer be received.
Perhaps a clue as to the root cause of his mounting frustration lay in his offhand reaction to an inquiry about what, if any, discussions had been held with Liverpool’s hierarchy over the place the Europa League held in the club’s list of priorities. “All we ever seem to do at Liverpool is have discussions,” he said. “So I am pretty sure those discussions have taken place.”
So much for the brave new world supposedly heralded by Hodgson’s arrival. Those words could have been taken from Rafael Benítez’s book of cryptic comments made during his six years at the club.
All talk, no action. Maybe Hodgson has simply needed a few weeks to realise that, at Anfield, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

when he hears: listen Roy we understand what you'd like to do and how, but let's have a chat and sort out what you will do and how..lets have a meeting and discuss the issues..
He seems to be feeling a tade frustrated with certain aspects at the club already, just imagine how he'll feel in 6 months time..lol

Guess we'll never really know Scratch! But whatever it is he's feeling frustrated with something.. We know he's pretty pissed off with the current situation, not having more first team players available at this time, oh and all the talking LOLOriginally posted by Scratch View PostMaybe he's just annoyed that the Luke Young transfer, and the Insua transfer, are dragging on...we could be holding up the Insua one by not giving him a proper pay-off for example...who knows what he meant?
