    Which fella was that?

Good news though. Better than all the names we've been linked with for the left back spot, if we can only keep him fit!

That much is obvious but Cole, Aurelio and Jovanovic on frees is shrewd stuff.

I suppose we'll have to pay Fabio a signing-on fee although that will be compensated for if he's taken a pay cut.

Hope he didn't sell his house.

Why is it good news? What use to us is a player who has been injury-prone for most of his career. However good he is, he will not be there half the time when we need him. Such a player is no good either as a first team player nor as a reserve. As a player, I like him though.

Pretty odd, but good news IF we can keep him vaguely fit. Not too surprised that nobody would touch him given his record. Cover for LM too. When fit, he'll certainly be the best LB we've got, if he signs.

We still need a first choice LB, even if Insua stays as well.

Fabio Aurelio has rejoined #LFC on a two-year contract. Looks like I called that one wrong. Apologies. Was told he was just training.

Fabio Aurelio has been reunited with his former Liverpool team mates this evening after agreeing a new deal with the club.

The Brazilian travelled to Germany ahead of tomorrow's final pre-season friendly with Borussia Monchengladbach to link up with Roy Hodgson's squad despite leaving Anfield earlier this summer after failing to agree to a new pay-as-you-play contract.

Aurelio, 30, was signed from Valencia by Rafael Benitez four years ago on a free transfer and made 110 appearances for Liverpool but spent regular intervals on the sidelines after rupturing his achilles against PSV Eindhoven in April 2007.

Hodgson had looked at signing Aurelio during his time as Fulham manager when the defender's contract was not renewed at the end of last season.

The new Liverpool manager returned his attention to Aurelio as Emiliano Insua's imminent switch to Fiorentina and the failed deal for Luke Young, which broke down due the Aston Villa man's failure to agree personal terms, meant that Liverpool had no recognised left-backs.

Has anyone seen much of this lad? Is he any good?

Seriously though, this is good news and with the new Doc on board hopefully he'll sort Fabio out. Good business but I so do hope we didn't pay him a signing-on fee?!

from the offal... ****ing great news in my opinion

                                Reds re-sign Aurelio

Liverpool have confirmed they have re-signed Fabio Aurelio after the defender put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the club.

The Brazilian appeared to have brought his Reds career to an end after leaving the club following the expiry of his contract in May.

However, Aurelio was offered the chance to earn a new deal with the club by boss Roy Hodgson and, after impressing both the technical staff and medical team at Melwood, has agreed a contract until 2012.

Hodgson told Liverpoolfc.tv: "I asked the club to find out whether Fabio had found a new club.

"When we ascertained that he hadn't, we invited him back to Melwood so both myself and my staff, and the medical team could properly assess the player.

"We were both very impressed and I am delighted we were able to re-sign Fabio."

Aurelio was included in the Liverpool travelling party that set off for Sunday's friendly with Borussia Moenchengladbach earlier today.
