Will we have too many injury prone players?

I have no idea whether we do or dont but thought it might be an interesting discussion.

We will have Torres , Cole, Agger, Fabio all in the first team squad that are injury prone.

not sure if Johnson is too

hopefully our new medical approach will help with that.

Maybe that's what the medical team wanted?

    A chance to prove themselves.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I think the injury-prone tag given to Joe Cole is harsh.

Otherwise...yeah, bit of a concern. Unbelievably you didn't mention arguably the worst of the lot, Aquilani!

it might be a bit harsh but at the moment i think its true. hopefully he will prove me wrong.

Good idea for a thread, and a very good point mate. I think its a good thing that we have so much depth in the squad in the attacking 3 positions.

In terms of Cole I'm pretty sure 3 of the last four seasons he has been out for significant chunks of time. I think the tag is reasonable. I actually wonder if one of the factors behind his decision to sign was our new medical staff.

I read somewhere recently he'd only played fewer than 38 games (all comps) in a season twice since 2002?

Don't get me wrong, he's clearly had a few bad 'uns but the above stat - if true - suggests it's not as bad it seems?

                Just found this elsewhere:

Joe Cole's had two notable injuries in the past 7 years and he's being called injury prone? It's ridiculous.

                02/03 - 40 games
                03/04 - 50 games
                04/05 - 46 games
                05/06 - 48 games
                06/07 - 24 games
                07/08 - 49 games
                08/09 - 20 games
                09/10 - 29 games(so far)

The two injuries were a stress fracture in his foot and a cruciate knee ligament injury - no sign of recurring injury to muscles and no sign of a weakness in any particular parts of his bone or ligament structure. Just two injuries, bit of bad luck, it's all it is.

Either someone's decided to redefine 'injury prone' or some newspaper did some poor research, the rest of the newspapers never bothered to check it up and put out the same rubbish and people fell for it.

looking at that it seems 3 out of 4 seasons he has played under 30 games.

now it wont be as simple as that but it doesnt look promising at the moment. however what matters is the future and that will answer the question.

In reality that is the only thing that matters now. He seems fit and eager to prove himself and I personally will only focus on positives for now. Clean slate and no thoughts about his past injury troubles.
