Agree with what is mentioned above but I strongly believe that Hodgson is in way over his head, he doesnt seem to prepare tactically for a game the way Benitez used to and is even slower at changing things when the viewing public seem to know 20 minutes sooner.

He has removed the zonal marking system which statistically has been proven to be better, he has loaned out Aquilani to Juve for no apparant reason without giving the lad a chance, he plays Agger at left back, he has no width, the midfield is devoid of fight, the lovely one touch triangles between Maxi Torres and Gerrard seem to be gone forever,
Lucas has gone from mediocre to missing, the names we are associated with like Luke Young and Konchesky, our 2nd choice keeper has been replaced with a numptie.

We have no shape and get bossed by other teams

But he does interview well and woe betide anyone who dare say anything bad about him though..

If this continues we will be in the bottom half for most of the season, West Brom is a big game...never thought I would ever be saying that.

Arsenal were always going to carve out a few chances but the manner in which they scored and with only a few mins left...left the lads ****ing devastated.

I can't help but feel all that played a part in our dire, uninspired and lacklustre performance at City. I'm not saying we still wouldn't have got beat but think about it, if we'd have held on against Arsenal - playing a full half with 10 men and starting the new era taking 3 points against a top 3 side, it would have given everyone a massive lift.

Such a ****in pity we didn't hold out against Arsenal, but what's done is done.

Is the players confidence really that fragile that they go to pieces after conceeding a late goal? The same was mentioned after the opening day defeat to Spurs last season. FFS what happened to the never say die attitude of a couple of seasons ago where we never knew when we were beaten, the number of times we came back to win that season was incredible WTF has happened to destroy that?

After the Arsenal game I was hoping a little more than I had dared earlier, I thought that the performance and spirit we showed second half was great, but what's happened since has made me revert to the opinion I had previously, which is one where I'm very concerned about what's happening. The lack of funds is killing us and the fact we're replacing players we cheaper poorer versions of them is soul destroying, i hate seeing what's happening to our great club. H&G really are scum, the sooner they get told to f*ck off the better for everyone. I feel that only then can we begin to look forward again

Our signings so far, Brad Jones and Poulsen are of poor quality and the players we are rumoured to be close to signing are also equally poor quality so im very depressed

IAFN! I think over time Roy will managed to steady the ship and turn things around but at the moment it's just darn hard not to feel depressed about what's happening both on and of the field. To be fair i don't think our start has been too far from what was expected before the season began. We all would have taken a draw against Arsenal and if it weren't for the Reina incident we'd have taken 3 points. Cole getting sent off was also a bit harsh, in my opinion, and I do think it had a detrimental effect on the preperations for the City game - further impacted by Masch behaving like a tool! The next two games definitely seem winnable and hopefully we'll get some decent points on the board and have some confidence going into the Scum game - which i'm not exactly looking forward too! At the moment though, especially with Masch leaving a gaping hole in DM and with no idea if/who will be his replacement things aren't looking rosy. Let's hope we'll get some good news before deadline day with some quality additions. If not then it'll be doom and gloom here for a while!
