Common mate, bit of perspective, the team is nowhere near settled yet, we have Konchesky,Merieles,Poulsen and Cole who have barely kicked a ball between them, everyone of them will be starters, it will take time for the team to gel with these players in it, saying that our season will be over and that Roy's future depends on these games is a massive knee jerk reaction IMO, its so early on.Originally posted by Bender View Postit will give a clear inidication ..........utd away and then 2 home games v sunderland and blackpool ....7points minimum
Yes we need to keep on getting points on the board and we will in next few games, i don't see us gettign max points, today and mancs are 2 very difficults games, look at our openings fixtures its been a nightmare. If can keep up pace with Spurs and City within next few games IMO thats a good start. Leaving Chelsea and Mancs out of it everyone else seems to be dropping points aswell and against weak opposition too, swings and roundabouts this season.
Once out team gets settled we'll kick into gear, i'm not one of those who expects a title challenege, that would be naive.

after todays? Or including todays?Originally posted by Bender View Postok maybe i should have said next 3 games will give us a clear idea as to where the club and manager will be
We could play brilliantly against Brum and Utd and get nil points due to bad luck. It happens. Ok we haven't played brilliantly for years but you get the jist.
There's way too much focus applied to a few games that have been played, new manager, new ideas, players leaving, players arriving, players injured, players suspended all take time to settle out.
Chelsea apart, no one is playing consistently well yet. Spurs will get less points than last year as Defoe is out for 3 months. City have looked average bar one home game, can't remember who they played, but they tore them a new arse hole. Villa aren't as strong as last year. So that leaves 4th fairly open and a even if we had a couple of bad months that wouldn't necessarily rule us out of it. We always start slow, always have.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

I take your point man but with our rivals dropping points doesn't mean it's alright if we do, it's even more reason to get three today - we'll be making the most of their slip ups.Originally posted by danperkins View PostCommon mate, bit of perspective, the team is nowhere near settled yet, we have Konchesky,Merieles,Poulsen and Cole who have barely kicked a ball between them, everyone of them will be starters, it will take time for the team to gel with these players in it, saying that our season will be over and that Roy's future depends on these games is a massive knee jerk reaction IMO, its so early on.

As Craig says, man for man we're a better team that B'ham and should be beating them, they're a decent side and it will be a tough game but with us going to United next week, i'm of the opinion this is a must win game.
Once again, i have to state, how much i hate that ****ing team.

No your completely right, when others slip up its important to capitalise on that, my point was that everyone will slip up this season and already 99% of the teams have apart from Chelsea who have had a very easy start. IMO once all of our new signings are bedded in whichin fairness might take a few weeks i reckon we'll push on and only when Cole/Torres/Gerrard play in the same team will we really see what LLFC are capable of this season, personally i can't wait to see that.Originally posted by Rudo View PostI take your point man but with our rivals dropping points doesn't mean it's alright if we do, it's even more reason to get three today - we'll be making the most of their slip ups.

I would have liked to have seen Babel given a start today. His attitude of late has been excellent, and when he's come on, he's made a big impact. He wants it.
Jovanovic has been pretty poor up till now. It's to be expected - he's still settling in. If he is poor again today then Roy needs to give Babel a run in the side.
Hope to see Meireles in the second half!K ris90210
