I don't know much of Salcido as I've seen him briefly at the world cup but the fact is, he's been around and playing international football for a long time, therefore more used to the kind of pressure associated with the typical modern professional footballer.

Yes, I do think Insua is a better player than Konchesky (at 21 he still could improve his game) and for the debate, it seems Roy also rated him but he seemed to be powerless to prevent his shipping out. Let's hope he returns a better player and can debunk the myth that he's that bad.
    Are we winning?

I could flip the Salcido argument and say he's been at PSV for ages and if he'd been any good someone would have bought him from there a long time a go. I would also say that he plays for Mexico, where it is much easier to get in the national team. Agreed they are a decent team and seem to be better than the sum of their parts. But the likes of Dos Santos and Franco were first choice for them at the World Cup and to say they have not set the Premiership alight is akin to saying LFC are in a spot of bother finance wise.

On Insua, i don't think he'll ever be back as he has a year left on his contract and whether or not Emiliano wanted to stay or not is clearly open to debate. But for arguments sake I'll go on the assumption he wanted to sign a new deal, wanted to stay and was reasonable with his wage demands.

Personally i thought Insua was a liability last year and whilst he could (though I highly doubt it) be a star in the future, we also have to make sure we have players who can perform at the top level now. IMO Insua can not. For that reason I 100% wanted Insua (or the injury prone Aurelio) replaced with a better LB.

We will see or not if Konchesky is better over the coming months. I think he will be a marked improvement. You and many others is should be said, do not.
      Forwards.......

but the thing is if he turns in a few good performances for liverpool rather than fulham the england boss will take more notice.

        unfortuantely that's how it works..

lets see how he gets on.

Look through are squad and we do have quantity, what we lack is quality. It makes much more sense to sell plessis, el zhar and nemeth if we never have any intention of playing them.
They've already gone haven't they? Well Plessis and Nemeth have and think El Zhar has gone on loan. I'm sure if Rafa was still here they'd be gone too.....they'd reached that age where they're either considered part of the first team squad or too old for the reserves/academy.

Spearing and Darby and maybe a few of the older reserves such as Irwin etc i expect to go in the next wave in summer.

At least the quality of the juniors is gradually getting better.

Didn't Roy mention Spearing as one of the young players likely to feature more in the cup games? Depending on how he does he might stick around a little longer...

Darby though I can't see having a future with us TBH. Kelly is a younger player who is now ahead of him in the pecking order

I really can't see what Roy or any other managers see in Spearing. I won't lie, I haven't seen a lot of him, but what I have seen, he seems small and slow with ok ability to keep possession but thats about it, his shooting seems poor too. Or am I missing something about him?

He is going to be 22 soon, surely by now people won't say he has the potential, we would be starting to see the benefits of it by now surely?

For someone that was dubbed the next Stevie G he has been rather disappointing. I just cant see him working his way into regular appearances for us. Plus (as you mentioned earlier) he's ****in tiny and has little pace.

Are you sure, I thought they loaned him with an option to buy at the end of the season. I could be wrong, though.

Its a really odd loan deal, I don't understand how they have an option to buy if he is out of contract as it is generally believed he is, unless they want them to pay during Jan or something??
