Boca-Sevilla clash gets go-ahead
Boca Juniors and Sevilla have agreed a date for their Intercontinental Cup clash.
Boca, as winners of the Recopa Sudamericana, and Sevilla, as winners of the European Super Cup, will contest the showpiece final in Madrid on December 21.
"We have reached total agreement with Sevilla for playing the Intercontinental Cup against them," confirmed Boca vice president Pedro Pompilio.
"We would have preferred to play it in two games, but as there are calendar problems we don't have any problem in playing in only one match and we have even accepted to play it in Spain.
"Both federations and both associations have agreed that the match can be played on December 21, so we will be in Spain prior to the match that will be played in Madrid. It hasn't been decided yet in which stadium but that is only a small detail."
Boca officials are also hoping to restart negotiations with Liverpool, regarding a date for the 2005 edition which has still to be played.
"We also want to start talks again with Liverpool for playing the 2005 match so if they accept and we find a date maybe we can take advantage of our trip to Spain and also play against Liverpool," added Pompilio.
now wouldn't that be lovely
