Hopefully once we get all our top players in the same team and get some continuity in there we should play a hell of alot better, a few wins on the trot should boost the confidence, that United comes at a very bad time IMO.

I dont think we could look worse than what we did under Rafa last season.

Granted he is making a half dexent job at it at the moment but lets see what merieles and cole bring to the table

Torres, Gerrard, Kuyt, Cole, Jovanovic, Meireles, et al against Blackpool at home?

I think Roy, like Benitez, will live and die by his signings. If Cole and Meireles are a hit we will have a good season, no doubt about it.

If they go the way of Keane or Aquilani we'll be average again, especially as we'll have to rely on Poulsen and Lucas in midfield.

I'm not expecting great things against Steau or Man Utd, but after those games are out the way we have to be looking at making big strides under Roy. If we lose to Man Utd we will at most be only three points off Spurs and City and that is very manageable. It's not a chasm, it is a very workable gap.

I highly doubty anyone else in the league will finish in the top 4 aside from Spurs, City or ourselves, so whilst we've had a nightmare start we are in fact just fine at this stage. It would be panic stations if we were chasing Chelsea as point gaps early doors are very hard to close as title chasers such as Chelsea don't drop too many points. But we are all being a bit more realistic this year so points wise, we have no worries, yet.

Just on TLW there and there is a thread titled "I'm Embarrassed to Admit It, I've All But Given Up on Hodgson", some of the posts on that thread are unbeliavable. One of the reasons i'm leaving this shambles of a site. I did the poll and woul dyou believe that "41" either have lost faith him or want him sacked.

After 4 ****ing league games!!! 4!! What is wrong with people, shocking state of affairs i'm embarrassed to be associated with them as LFC supporters. Precisely what i was on about earlier on. Disgusting IMO that this type of so called LFC supporter actually exists.

Posted my last post on TLW, enough of that free for all for full of abusive kids.

I really don't think our situation last season or this season was even close to being that simple.

Some people think it was wrong to appoint Hodgson before he was even given the job, so they haven't lost faith after only a few games...they simply didn't have any when it became known the club wanted him, nothing has changed is all.

But i find it hard to believe that some fans..if they were happy with Hodgsons cv.. and had faith in him as the right man to lead lfc to trophies; would change their mind after this long...unless they were only being polite by backing him for backings sake.

If you had faith when he came..it's daft to change your opinion now...after this little time. imo.

Hold on, how is it that it was considered unfair to not think rafa was the right man (whilst being told he should have one more year), yet it's not unfair to not want Hodgson (or to still not rate him) before he's had one full month, let alone another year?

That sentence has like a quadruple negative in it, I've read it several times now and I still have no idea what exactly you're asking?

I looked at the start of the season fixtures and thought Hodgo would get a tough deal from the fans. 4 games in ffs. He needs a season before he can be judged.

Last year it was far from being simple. We all expected big things after a second placed finish in the league, so to drop from 2nd to 7th was gutting. I think the early results really messed with the players and supporters morale. As none of us expect a title challenge it will be far easier to turn it around this season as it is unusual for 4th place to get 80 points or more, more likely than not 75 points would do it, say 2 points a game. Not on target at present but neither are our rivals.

IMO, only a small minority wanted him here, and I was not one of them. But he is here now and deserves time, no matter what the reservations are. I genuinely think that a manager of his quality is at least good enough to get us a 6th place finish - which would be an improvement on last year, despite us making a profit on transfers yet again.

Problem is I wanted a manager who could galvanise the players and get them motivated and ready to get good results and play positive football, which was why I wanted Kenny over Roy.

But Roy is here now and he deserves time and patience. Let's see how his signings do - Cole, Meireles, Konchesky and Poulsen before we hang him out to dry. If all 4 do well, trust me - we'll have a good season.

In fairness to Roy, he's had no pre season with players you would call first teamers, I remember Lucas being the captain for most games. Some of the players didn't even play one pre season game and most were doing work with the new medical staff in England as opposed to travelling to Austria and playing games.

Every manager has different methods and tactics and in fairness to Roy he hasn't had nearly as much time as he'd have wanted to get his ideas across.

Throw in the fact we've had to put up with a Lucas and Poulsen combination in midfield, players throwing hissy fits less than 24hrs before a game and his star striker being severly short of match fitness and it's no suprise we've struggled.

I'll say it again and I will keep doing so until after the Sunderland game. Let's get Steau and Man Utd out the way, take what we can get and then see how we start doing against the Mackems and the other games before we play Chelsea.

Anything from Man Utd is a bonus for me, but after then the time for excuses is over.
