    Our right side

What would be wrong with making Kelly our new RB and having Johnson as a winger?

Kelly is the only youngster we have who I'd put my house on making it. He is a top defender in the making and we're seriously lucky to have him.

Johnson's already suspect defensive abilites are deteriorating and maybe moving him forward would give a him a new lease of life.

Does it happen often that attacking full backs are converted to wingers? Ironically I've often thought that Dani Alves - overrated and clearly a mentalist anyway - seems to be more influential when playing from RB than from RW but he's the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

    Anyone.....? Anyone....?

It has been suggested many a time before but i can't see it happening anytime soon.

It's a good shout though, for sure.

Johnson aint suspect at the back, that's just a load of tosh built up about him. Anyone care to tell me the last goal from the opposition that came about from an attack down our right hand side?

      Long time a go.

He certainly seems to get caught out of position a huge amount in a lot of games. Doesn't he also have Carra there mopping this up a lot?

          To me, it's a no-brainer

I don't think it'll happen at Old Toilet next week though, hopefully Roy would try something like that in the Europa League?

I think today he seemed lethargic, so I agree he was poor today, but Brum still created nothing down his side of note.

His main problem is normally that he is so attacking and that is why he seems out of position, but luckily the rest are switched on enough to cover him - which as we want our full backs to get forward is their job.

I'm sure Carra does cover some of his mistakes, but that is Jamies job at the end of the day. If we were shipping goals down his side I'd see the argument, but as we are not I don't.

I see what you mean but as regards him getting caught out cos he's "so attacking", it's not like he's burning up the wing either - he seems to have great attacking abilities but either seems very poor at choosing his runs and movement a lot or else he's available and we can't get the ****in ball to him because of our "axis of evil" midfield (copyright hedgehog ) or he's just constanly caught in two minds.

The stats of course must tell some of the truth but he just looks like he's having a **** game - especially defensively - so often in the last 12 months or so.

I agree. To me he is not a problem. Pairing of Lucas and Poulsen is and playing Skrtel instead of Agger.

Lucas and Poulsen add to our lack of pace and creativity in attack which is also a huge problem though. Johnson worries and tricks defenders.

Been screaming for Kelly at RB and Johnson on wing for ages.
With Dirk out RH should give it a run.

                          Kelly - Carra - Agger - Konch
                          Johnson - Poulsen - Meireles - Cole
                          Gerrard - Torres.

(not sure who I'd have in goal mind...)

Putting a full back on the wing usually takes the edge out of his game offensively. Coming from deep, unmarked, is easier than being the first man who gets the ball out wide.

There's nothing wrong with playing GJ as a RM (if need be) but I don't have a problem with him defensively. If he's told to bomb on and get forward and he/ we loose possession he can be caught out of position. Par for the course I'm afraid.

As Dannyman said, it's not like we are leaking goals down his side.
