    Afterglow...

...but only the afterglow you get after a particularly satisfactory wank as opposed to coital afterglow.

In other words, reflecting in the match last night has left me with the most positive feelings I've had about LFC - footballwise - in quite a while.

Without getting carried away, I am relieved and delighted about our 2nd half performance last night. Some really good performances and some really good football played against admittedly inferior but potentially dangerous opposition. There have definitely been glimpses of what Roy wants attacking-wise already but last night I think we saw the basics of real forward passing with movement and options available. I just hope to God Mereiles builds on what he did last night and gives us real drive, pace and passing from midfield.

Just sharing the positivity really. Still be relatively happy with a draw on Sunday but there are glimmers of hope.

      Couldn't agree more.

The one area that does concern me is the defence. Agger looked dodgy last night. Hopefully he'll pick a back four and keep playing it. I'd like it to include Agger but we'll have to wait and see.

I thought Babels effort was vastly improved last night. He offers more in that role for me than Kuyt II does. His pace and eye for goal are pluses but his brain is his downside. I still stand by the opinion that Babel will get better if he has a run of 5 or 6 games unfortunately I can't see him getting that.

RM looks a real breathe of fresh air. A player that gets the ball, moves forward, tackles, passes and isn't afraid to shoot. With him Gerrard, Cole & Torres I see exciting times.

We'll be alright this year. Just a shame next game is our hardest one and a bad result might knock the confidence.

Peronally I felt more like after I had taken a really massive dump. A feeling of relief.

          Much the same ere

Much better in the second half and our passing was quicker and sharper. Meireles looked good and the second half performance lasnite give me abit more confidence goin into the manc game. However, Merieles made us tick lastnite i believe and its just a shame he wont start away to United. Hodgson will revert back to Poulsen and Lucas. I hope to **** he dosnt becouse we seen how slow and static they where against Birmingham, they can/are a liability. If need be put Gerrard in centre mid. But we NEED drive from centre mid!

As I've said many times of late, the team will get better over the next few games.

            Overall though last night I wasn't overly impressed with the performance and I'll explain why in a moment. Before I do that the positives for me are;

Cole played well, his movement was good and his energy levels were good too. He needs to look for the simple ball a bit more though as he always tries fancies flicks.

Another positive was our second half performance. It was a lot more energetic than what we've seen of late, we pressed them hard too and worked a lot harder in general.

Meireiles was a bit sloppy with his passing in general but he did get better as the game went on so that is a positive sign indeed. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as he's new to the squad.

The negatives for me are, there a quite a few.

We're very slow starters, yes we scored after 30 seconds but in general in most games we're very slow out of the blocks and this needs to improve; again I'm confident it will.

The team needs to be more aggressive and every single one of them from the defenders to the strikers need to learn how to make a clean, aggressive (not dirty) tackle. N'gog for instance backed out of a 50-50 challenge, had he made it he may have won the ball and been away on goal but he backed out.

Generally as a team we are ****e at tackling. The only ones I recall making an attempt at a sliding tackle were Agger, Kyrgiakos, Cole (albeit a **** attempt) and Spearing. I know you'd expect these to be making tackles but the rest of the team need to do more and help each other out.

Another thing is that we are an extremley slow team, this has been happening for years and needs to change. We're very laboured as a unit and take an age getting forward.

We constantly pass sideways or backwards, either that or a player ****s himself and wellies the ball into no mans land. Again, all the players need to learn some discipline and composure when on the ball, it's acceptable to whack the ball away when you're ****ed and under a lot of pressure but this is not always the case so there's no need.

The final thing for me is that not everyone is playing as a team, all the players must realise this and stop being so selfish when on the ball. They need to look up and play someone else in instead of taking on shots or going it alone.

Overall I'm confident we will improve over the forthcoming games, we need a big performance from everyone on Sunday with a lot of passion and belief.

Screams out Meireles or for Gerrard to play in centre mid. I do think our passing would have been better in previous games if Joe Cole hadn't been suspended. That would free up Gerrard to slot back into centre mid and for the last 10mins at Birmingham from that position he ran the show.

                Definitely mate,

It will start to show now over the next few games with him back in the team. Everyone will benefit from Cole being back and in particular Gerrard and Torres.

You can see the class that Cole's brought from Chelsea, he's top drawer and we've needed someone like him for a long time.
