the second i saw the teamaheet and maxi and skittles were on it i worried - and i was justified. maxi should not be anywhere near our first 11 right now - lazy / disinterested / slow / noi end product / miserable the list goes on. skittles - a complete liabailityand a disaster waiting to happen. why why why dagger does not play i dont know.

on a positive side, i thought we played some nice football. the ball on the deck in midfield and one touch passing. and to think this was the firt time roy has had a full squad to pick from that were fit ( barring kyut ) i was imporessed. we have played 4 really hard games out of 5 so far ( the arse / citeh / manure / brum away ) so the season will get a bit easier for a while now.

i am confident on that that performance and the positives ( poulsen look ed solid , raul played well , knoichesky barring one slip look solid ) we will kick on from here.

i thought we were **** to be fair. The first half was an utter embarrasment, we passed the ball either sideways or backwards. The second half saw an improvement but we still created next to nothing in goal scoring opportunities.

i was at a wedding yesterday in nottingham and they didnt have sky sports so i didnt watch the match.

my brother was in the home end at old trafford and he said that we were diabiolical. Torres was really isolated and had no support. The fact that we scored 2 goals says more about utd **** defending than it does about our attacking play.

i sky plussed it and watched it last night How oshea wasnt sent off for fouling torres i dont know, nani is a diving little ******* and someday someone will do him for real and no one is going to believe that he's actually injured.

Defensively we were all over the place and i am sorry but konchesky isnt the best left back at the club - fabio aurelio is. The amount of time we allowed united in the wide positions was ridiculous and hence they picked us off with decent crosses.

Midfield, maxi doesnt have the legs to play wide right, cole tried and looked busy all game, same gerrard but torres was once again too isolated. Meireles should have played next to poulsen releasing gerrard to help torres.

people saying torres once again didnt look bothered are wrong because he chased down everything and despite not having even one decent ball to feed off he still tried.

Im not worried about carra but he cant carry the defence on his own, johnson cant defend but that's nothing new, skrtel doesnt look comfortable and carragher looks jittery when he's with skrtel. His regular partner should be agger and it provides the right - left balance which suits carra.

we're not that far off but we just need time. We have 4 games coming up and after a very tough start (united, arsenal, man city in our first 5 games) we have some games to gel the team together and get some confidence into the team.

after 5 games, 1 win, 2 draws and 2 defeats is poor but we have to look at the overall picture. Lets see how the team is doing after 15 games and take it from there.

PLUS, once we switched to 442 we looked a pretty decent side. a lot more comfortable looking.

Thats the thing see I dont think Skrtel is capable of seeing or thinking (in terms of positions / anticipation etc..)

To me out of that back four we have one defender worth a carat at the moment and he is nearing the twilight of his career

All fair points Neil. You're probably right that the excitement of the comeback and the positivity surrounding the atmosphere after we'd got the penalty might've clouded things a litte. But i also take into account the whole context of the day - eg, being away to Man Utd off the back of a highly disappointing start, leaving us with minimal confidence and a lack of belief or positivity going into the game.

Add to that the fact that i was expecting us to potentially get a tonking

All things considered, i'm quietly upbeat and feeling more positive than i was on Sunday morning.

If I may take the liberty of summarising - we've had a bad start, a hammering was possible (and arguably deserved, although obviously Ferguson is overstating the case) and we have a better run of fixtures approaching. In other words, we've been **** so far, it could have been worse on Sunday and things can only get better. I can see that.

Roy need to show that no one is safe. Carra makes mistake after mistake but he seems to be undroppable. That is why I made the comment that Roy must walk if he isn't ruthless enough to drop Carra. If he isn't doing that then he will most certainly not succeed because it won't be enough pressure on Carra to up his game.

We need competition for places all over the pitch. If a player isn't delivering then he should be benched whoever it is. Right now Carra isn't delivering and should be benched. I doubt that Roy is man enough to do that and that is why we won't play better. Some players are feeling a bit to safe just as you say.

If Roy isn't brave enough to drop a Liverpool legend like Carra then he will fail in the same way Rafa did. Not dropping certain players even when they didn't deliver was Rafa's biggest mistake.
