Yes we have but that isn't Poulson's fault, it annoys the **** out of me that fans compare current players who want to play for the club against past players who wanted to leave (for whatever reasons)

There isn't another player in the style of Mascherano in world football (that I can think of) and currently around 6-8 teams in the PL are better than us without having a player of his 'style' or perceived class in their sides.

Maybe Poulson's style will be more effective in the PL (after he has settled in) maybe it won't be but one things for sure Mascherano played all last season and we were terrible.
Sometimes a 'worse' player with a better attitude is worth 10 times the performances of a 'better' player with a bad attitude

Not sure that there is anything wrong in wanting to compare players who do the same role in the team. Mascherano wanted to leave last season and he performed, personally at least, excellently for the majority of the season. Leaving the comparison out of it having such a limited defensive midfielder is the attitude of a mid table (or worse team) in my view. It's not Poulsens fault, the owners and manager are the ones who are the root cause. It is still a bid sign though in my view.

That's a fair point - he might well look more assured as he adapts to new team-mates and a new league.

Also though I think it's important to remember that Lucas joined as a young lad and, at 23, almost certainly will improve. We've seen Poulsen (intermittently) for years and at 30 he's only going to decline from the uninspiring standards he's set elsewhere.

That's not a rash judgement.

By 'hoofing' or 'lumping' I meant that was far from an 'inch perfect' pass. I'm fairly sure he aimed it to anyone of Ngog or Meireles though.

Used to think he was one of the weak links in that Sevilla side. I thought he was dirty, pedestrian and not a very good passer. Two out of three so far ...he seems to have stopped making tackles since he went to Juve. Maybe it's his age, or he's easing himself in.

The big difference between Mascherano and Poulsen is that Poulsen can't act like a defensive pacemaker.

Masch almost always passed the ball after one or two touches. That meant a quicker game. Poulsen need more touches and because of that slows down our game.

Masch could have delivered more 60 yard passes but that wasn't his job. His job was to protect the back four and speed up our game.

Less creative than Masch? Seriously common mate, Masch is better than him but is probably one of the least creative footballers in world football, Poulsen is far better on the ball and a superior passer, thats clear after just a few games. He doesn't have Masch's dogged style and frenetic energy but offers other things and hopefully can adjust a push on.

Poulson looked better 2nd half because the Utd midfield didn't press him much after they got the 2nd goal, 1st half he didn't shift the ball quick enough and when he did it went backwards or sideways. When he comes up against a midfield who press him quickly then we will see what he is about.

Em Maschernano is one of the worst passers of a football i've ever seen and go forward with the ball?

Didn't he play through the subtle, nicely weighted pass for Ngog to score against Arsenal?
