He played on the left no? Not that it really mattered. He was never in the game.

One game! And one game when the vast majority of outfield players were pants, in a poor team playing poorly. He's spent the majority of his career there, made his name there. Had a great World Cup there. Yes he might want to play in the hole and I was intrigued to see him there, but IMO our strongest front four is easily Cole-Gerrard-Kuyt behind Torres.Originally posted by dom9 View PostHe played on the left no? Yeah I know it was one game, but he did nothing to convince that is his best position.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostOne game! That said, I'm no expert as I never watch Chelsea (unless we're playing them) or England.Oh I don't know.

I'd have that team all day long, accept I'd have Gerrard and Meireles changing throughout the game to prevent man marking jobs.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostIf we are sticking with the current formation, for me it has to be:
Poulsen Miereles
Kuyt* Gerrard Cole
Torres
* this position more than any other is up for grabs IMO with Kuyt, Babel and Maxi all likely to play there at some pointForwards.......

I'd have Poulson sitting as Defensive Mid on his own.
In front of him I'd play Gerrard in CM, Meireles on the left, Kuyt on the right (when he's back of course) with Cole just in front of those three just behind Torres.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. I think they are similar. Poulsen was excellent second half against Man Utd but Lucas has also done well in the past when asked to defend. I'd keep Poulsen in but if he was to start Lucas ahead of Poulsen I wouldn't be bothered.Originally posted by Reece View PostI'd have Lucas over Poulsen in midfield. He can tackle for starters.Originally posted by Reece View PostI'd have Lucas over Poulsen in midfield. I've seen nothing so for from the latter to convince me he's better than the former.
His passing seems to be better than Lucas' and he's a bit more mobile from what I've seen but he does need more time in there though to see what he can do.
I do think Lucas is not a DM he is an AM and is being played out of position but then again he's not good enough to replace those ahead of him either.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. He's capable at DM. His problem at LFC has always been that he is stuck with a clogger, as opposed to a ball player.Originally posted by Slinky Skills View PostHe can tackle for starters.

Stick Lucas next to a clogger and ask him to dictate the play and he'll fall flat on his face. Put him next to a ball player and ask him to just make tackles and do sideways passes to his central partner and he'll do that all day long.Forwards.......

Thats the side I'd want to see playing as well - we have no wide players at the moment so we should be looking to get the best from what we already have - that for me offers the best option for the players we currently haveOriginally posted by Rhys View PostI'd like to see us play a proper 433 formation, especially at Anfield and away to lesser opposition. I think our team sits far too deep so I think we'd be better off having our midfield push further up the pitch, and only having one sitting player rather than the two we are currently using. Something like the following formation, with an emphasis on keeping Kuyt and Cole high up the pitch, restricting their tendency to drift back into a 5 man midfield.
-----------Lucas------------
-----Gerrard---Ming--------
Kuyt------Torres------Cole

I'd say it was similar to how Chelsea lined up under Mourinho. In difficult games, you're right, it would more closely resemble our usual 4231, but in the majority of games it would be a narrow 433, with any width coming from the fullbacks.Originally posted by Fernandinho View Postthat is basically 4-2-3-1 but with wider players
