    Rafa - No Way Back?

Inevitably, there are lot's calls for Roy to go, and many want Rafa back.

Trouble is, I don't think that's feasible, for many reasons, not least because I am convinced he lost the dressing room last season.

I know that he had a lot on his plate with regard to battling with the board, and not having money to spend, but some of the performances last season were abject, and had the look of a team that did not want to play for their manager. I can't see him being welcomed back by the players, let alone the board.

Controversial view, possibly, but I can't see a way back.
    Oh I don't know.

Rafa wont come back, he has moved on and I for one do not want him back. Some of our problems are his making, some of his buys were poor, Babbel, Lucas, Maxi to name a few. They cant be blamed on the owners.
Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

I cant see a way back anytime soon, but not for the reasons you point to.

I did, at one point, think he may have lost the dressing room, but as i mentioned last night, the same lack of motivation and drive exists now - so unless Roy too has lost the dressing room 2 months in, i dont think it's that.

As i said yesterday, i think it's the boardroom ****e which has transmitted itself down into the players, in the form of no morale, no positivity and no enjoyment anymore.

If we got new owners who know what's required and how to back a manager properly, i would love to see Rafa back and i think it could happen - but it possibly wouldnt be for at least 2 or 3 (or more years). Aside from the huge obstacle we have in trying to find good owners, Internazionale arent likely to just happily rip up his contract at the whim of LFC.

Maxi was a free, wasnt he? Possibly signed because there werent funds for a player who would command a fee - and that would indeed be the owners fault.

            Welcome back anytime.

Would absolutely love to see him back with proper owners at the club.

We don't really know what went wrong last season but I'm convinced it's got nothing to do with the manager. I still think that we did really well in the circumstances and judging how things have been going this season, I think there is some credence to that.

7th was never acceptable but it was about right in terms of what could have been achieved last season. We missed out on a CL place by how much in the end, 3 or 4 points (I'm saying this off the top of my heard so excuse me if I'm wrong), then we still managed to narrowly miss out on a Europa Cup final.

Look at how it's fared this season in comparison. It's still very early days but we've already lost twice and won once in 5 league games. Given that we've had a very difficult start (City and United away) under a new manager, we're a long way off winning anything at all this season.

It's not the new manager's fault, it's the board's, in my opinion - as they've made the ultimate choice of sacking Benitez and appointing a lesser manager in the first place. They've left us in a mess, both on the footballing and financial side of things.

As for Rafa and him coming back? I think he would if given a chance. I'm sure he would resign at Inter and jump back straight at us if he could, but it's never going to happen.
              Are we winning?

Rafa's certainly not coming back under the current regime. in fact i doubt he'll ever come back as our manager.

I believe we're stuck with Roy until new owners are found, and depending on their wealth (and ambition) i doubt they'll get rid of him ASAP either.
                  We come not to play.

I agree Craig, but there must have been better on the market in the championship or reserves or even abroad. The guy is lazy, no doubt he was good in his day, but for a wide player, he is less productive than Babbel.

Better than Maxi, available in the Championship, for free?

Of course he was at least partly to blame.

I think that Rafa have an agreement with a potential owner that if that owner buy the club then he will be back.

He sounded very sure when he said that he will back. Must be a reason to that.

I don't think that Rafa lost the dressing room. I think that Gerrard lost faith in him. Then it was all down to Rafa or Gerrard to stay.

I would myself sold Gerrard and kept Rafa. Real had a big problem with Raul and that he had to much influence off the pitch. I think we are in the same situation when it comes down to Gerrard.

Fergie gets rid of players that get to much influence very quickly because they are a problem. If the manager want to stay for a long time then he must get rid of players that gets to much influence.

The boss must be THE boss.
