No it proves he's way out of his depth you ****
I'm pretty certain it proves nothing.

Roy is clearly a proud man and I don't think that many diagnosed a lack of 'steel' as his main problem for us. He might well be 'out of his depth' but I think pretty much any manager would have come out with a similar style of statement/interview.

I think if we were reading similar attacks/critiques on/of a manager on another teams forum we would decry it. I think it is sad that it has come to this. Some of the criticism is fair but I still think that a lot of it comes from a sense of entitlement which I'm not sure that the state of the club really supports.

People point to our 7th place finish and the fact we were poor, very poor at times BUT up until the death we were still in a shout for 4th. What can we say now? What can we expect? Secretly, what does Roy think he'll achieve... Happy for 10th?!

I wish he'd boycott the media, he's just a complete embarrassment. He cant handle it here, he really cant.

Another point is that his system hasn't worked for 35 years. He has been sacked more than one time.

You can't compare national team management with club management because it's completely different jobs.

Roy clearly don't understand what being manager of Liverpool FC is about. He simply don't have a clue.

He don't have a clue what the Liverpool way is all about, not a clue.

His ego is beginning to rival Mourinho. The difference is of course that Mourinho win trophies and can because of that afford to have a big ego. Roy don't.

It's pure comedy now when you read Roy's interviews. He talks so much **** that you wonder if it's meant to be a joke.

As a Liverpool supporter that isn't exactly fun but I can understand if fans of other clubs laugh their heads off because it's comedy time when Roy talks.

That would be an interesting question to know the answer to. You always knew that Rafa thought an believed that we should be aiming for winning things and that even last season until the very end he kept shooting for that target. You do get the impression that Roy is rather more 'realistic' in his ambitions. That said it was notable when he was at Fulham that he just wasn't a charismatic speaker in that way and a lot of his interviews seemed disconnected from what his team did on the pitch.

Perhaps that is part of the problem though at big clubs and particularly for us there is an element that is about the image and the impression of confidence that rubs off on the players and supporters.

My problem is that I didn't want Roy, I'm unimpressed with what he has done so far and I don't see that his methods will turn it round to the extent I want to see but I can't see a definitively better alternative and instinctively I dislike the idea of sacking a manager before you have given him a real chance (I think at least half a season is probably required, although I accept that in football probably 10 league games will give you a decent indication).

Furious Roy Hodgson hits out with Liverpool desperate for points

By Joe Bernstein Last updated at 10:35 PM on 2nd October 2010

A defiant Roy Hodgson has described himself as 'one of the most respected coaches in Europe' and said it is 'insulting' to suggest he cannot handle Liverpool's big-name stars.

And in a strong message to the Anfield players, he indicated they must share the blame for Liverpool's indifferent start, claiming some of them are not living up to their reputations and have not played any better than his Fulham team did last season.

Hodgson's decision to go on the attack ahead of today's crucial game against Blackpool is at odds with his nice-guy image but supporters will say it leaves no doubt he has the steel for football's toughest job.
                        Roy Hodgson

Well-respected: Roy Hodgson has hot out at his critics ('hot out' ? haha...the mail..meticulous as ever ?)

But his comments represent a gamble with Liverpool currently near the bottom of the Premier League table, having picked up only six points from six games and fell into the bottom three after Everton's first league win yesterday. They were also embarrassingly knocked out of the Carling Cup by League Two Northampton Town.

Off-field problems will see fans demonstrate again today against American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett while the club could be taken over by the Royal Bank of Scotland this month if the owners default on a £280 million debt. Hodgson, 63, was widely seen as a safe pair of hands when he succeeded Rafa Benitez in the summer but the pressure has been building, with Fernando Torres struggling in front of goal and new signing Joe Cole failing to shine.

Nonetheless, the former Blackburn and Fulham boss is angered by suggestions he will have to change his management style to succeed at Liverpool. His previous biggest job came at Inter Milan in the mid-1990s.

                        Fernando Torres

Poor form: Fernando Torres is one of several Liverpool players who has failed to hot top form this season

'It is insulting to suggest that because you move to a new club, your methods suddenly don't work when they've held you in good stead for 35 years and made you one of the most respected coaches in Europe. It's unbelievable,' he said.

'I've had two-and-a-half wonderful years (at Fulham) where nothing ever negative was said about me and my team. Now maybe people are saying negative things. It doesn't change anything. I work the same way as I did last year.

'My methods have translated from Halmstads to Malmo to Orebro to Neuchatel Xamax to the Swiss national team and many other jobs as well. I am doing the same things and the most important things to me are the players.

'We are six games into a 38-game season. I couldn't give a monkey's whether we're 16th or 18th at the moment. Be realistic, don't insult my intelligence with that. What bothers me is that we have only got six points and I would have liked a few more. But then I knew Manchester United and Manchester City were going to be tough games. I knew Arsenal with 10 men was going to be a tough game, so maybe six points isn't so bad at all. We are averaging two points from the other three.'

Significantly, Hodgson also called on Liverpool players to take more responsibility to go along with their reputations. Although 15 of the Anfield squad were picked by their countries for the World Cup, Hodgson does not seem to be over-impressed by some of them.

He said: 'I don't understand questions about Liverpool and Fulham players being different types. At the moment arguably one or two of the players that are suggested as being very different to the Fulham players maybe aren't playing any better than the Fulham players played. So maybe people should be having a look at that. If I can be accusatory of some journalists, I think they work on names and not on performances. A judgment is based on their name and not necessarily what they have actually done on the day.'

More accurately than his "averaging 2 points" out of those other 3 games, we have 5 points- so in fact we are averaging are draw- 2 of them vs 1 win.
                          3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Lets see what he says in his pre match interview before the Blackpool game. **** the papers, they loved him, just like Harry. Always wondered how long will it take before they turn on him? Being the LFC boss it comes with the territory. **** the daily rags. If Hodgson says something along similar lines as he has allegedly supposed to have said in the rags then i will believe it. Until then i wont. The interviewer will mention whats reported in the sunday rags to him, lets see what he says. As i said before and il say AGAIN G&H and the rest sacked Rafa and appointed him. Take it out on them not Hodgson. To much manager talk and not enough ownership talk. Anfield protest, sit-in at Anfield before and after the game instrested? no, i thought not Alot of this is Benitez believe it or not, many of you are pining for Benitez and we all seen how he was treated by the owners and felt he should have been giving another season. No room for sentiment Hodgson is boss lets back him and support him! With all the hatred for Hodgson i expect anti-Hodgson chants during the Blackpool game, bet the Hodgson haters dont! Instead of getting on Hodgsons back make noise by showing your love and support for the redmen. Remember that? **** me those classic nights at Anfield seem so far away. I dont mean on the pitch i mean off it. Like a ****ing morgue. I suspect anti Hodgson banners are being made as we speak just like they have been for those two daft cunts. Then again, there are still some people who need convincing that the owners are bad!

The other highly annoying thing is his use of respected. Respected by who?

                                UEFA?

                                Fellow managers?

It's hardly down to his haul of silverware or innovative training methods probably more down to his nicely nicely approach to the opposition.
