Free kick just before the middle circle sunderland half. Sunderland defender (turner) stops the ball where it was to be taken and backheels it about 10 yards back expecting the keeper to come and take the kick, then torres chases it down passes to kuyt who taps it in and the sunderland players just watched it all happen, including the keeper till the very last second where he almost closed kuyt down.
Free given to Sunderland
Defender back heeled it back a few yards......that's the point of contention as he may just been giving it to the keeper.
Nando runs on and squares it to kuyt

Sunderland had a free kick in their half. The ball was stationary. Michael Turner rolled the ball back about 10 yards expecting the keeper to take the free kick. Torres ran after it followed by Kuyt. TOrres waited for the ref to acknowledge the ball was in play - fed the ball to Kuyt and he scored.
Atwell has judged that as the ball was stationary and he had moved away - that the roll back was the free kick being taken.

Weird, so the ball wasn't actually placed for the free kick?
