However there's absolutely **** all wrong with Lucas' technique. First touch is good, he's more than adept at the first time pass. He has his deficiencies but to label his technique as 'horrendous' is just plain clueless.

His touch and technique arent the stronger areas of his game.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostI don't think he is technically gifted, but he is effective. I don't think he has poor control though.
Put his next to some of the world's best technical players, who have the best touch, and he's lightyears behind in those aspects of the game.
Or even, forget the best and just take a look at Joe Cole's touch - and then look at Kuyt's. The latter doesnt compare.

Keep living the dream mate and we weren't talking about whether he was effectoive or not, it was if he had good control, which he really really really doesn't, he has other attributes but that ain't one of them.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostWho cares? As long as I am disagreeing with you, I am on the right track.

Yes, but little Mr Perkins is pathologically opposed to giving Lucas any credit.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHowever there's absolutely **** all wrong with Lucas' technique. But it isn't anyway near as bad as made out by certain posters.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostHis touch and technique arent the stronger areas of his game.

Well we're getting into semantics there, with regards to what adjectives people use to describe his touch and how one man's 'poor' is another man's 'sufficient'...etcOriginally posted by Mattshark View PostBut it isn't anyway near as bad as made out by certain posters.
Suffice to say, Kuyt doesnt have particularly outstanding control or touch.

I dont think you can pick Lucas up too much on his technique.
And for the record, touch/control and technique are different things
On another topic, Utrecht's ground looks like a proper old fashioned english stadium
Furthermore, Villarreal play Brugges with an 8:05pm kickoff - and the ground is probably a quarter full already
English stadiums wouldnt even have opened the turnstiles yet.

Ah, but then we wouldn't have anything to debate!Originally posted by Craig_H View PostWell we're getting into semantics there, with regards to what adjectives people use to describe his touch and how one man's 'poor' is another man's 'sufficient'...etc

He doesn't, I personally feel some on here are a little OTT about it.

Fair point, his control is ok, his technique not so much, not as bad as Kuyts though touch/control & technique not his strong pointOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostI dont think you can pick Lucas up too much on his technique.

I actually think Lucas has pretty decent technique, the way he passes the ball and shoots is usually done correctly, even if the execution isnt spot on.Originally posted by danperkins View PostFair point, his control is ok, his technique not so much, not as bad as Kuyts though touch/control & technique not his strong point
Game on ITV4.
