Kop al 74 will be able to tell you about HBO but seeing as TASS show it I'd say yes you can.

Art card is definately worth it at £112 for the year. You will get to see 99% of games.I havn't missed a single game yet.I got mine off ebay for the same amount. You don't always have to have a card tho.Depending how much you can be bothered,if you were to get a technomate reciever, you can download what they call patches off the internet which basically open different channels all the time

Sometimes, you need to have your computer connected to your reciever to watch some games. For eg,there are french channels such as the tps channels which show prem games live every week, although it's got french commentary, who cares!

Also there are websites which just before some of the the games, post frequencys to the actual match feed to sky, bbc, itv etc.So basically, you get to hear the unedited commentry from motd for eg.Thats how a few of us were actually watching the carling cup game the other night,it wasn't on any channel what so ever, but we got the feed details off the web. Also, the size of the dish matters aswell, especially with feeds, not so much with the art card tho.All you need to beable to use an art card is 13e which is hotbird.

For the feeds, you have to really have a min of 80cm dish.It also depends on where you live.I used to have a 80cm dish but i couldn't pick up all the feeds so i upgraded to a 1.1m dish, now i can pick up NASA!

The link i posted earlier for the technomate 1500 package is a good deal. It's a very easy system to use and has good features.

Oh yea,if you do buy and art card, make sure it's got the little orange al-jazeera symbol on the bottom right hand corner.

I'm pretty impatient, how long would it take to be up and running? I want an Art card on the recommendations above. Is the picture quality good? Got an LCD so it'll look bollox if its poor!

It'll be a ******* to get it fed into my living room. Know the engineering folk at work though, so i'll get them round to do a homer effort.

                    Where do i start?

Iv'e had it for about 3 years now.You can get pretty hooked on it really with cams and cards and the like. But you really don't need to bother with too much if you just want to see footy. With the basic package and an artcard, you will get all the footy plus around 5000 other channels around the world.Once you get into it,thers endless sites out there with whole new world of watching tv.Obviously theres a lot more to getting a motorised sat system than just footy!

But the reason i got one in the first place was my passion for liverpool fc.I just never want to miss a single game, ever. And i havn't for almost 2 years now.All that streaming bollox on the net was so frustrating, with it's starting and stopping,i used to get so wound up with.A few keyboards have gone missing over years because of that! Never mind

Just think of the saving you will make just by canceling sky sports.

Bob,the picture quality is as good as watching the game on sky. It's all digital and the commentary is all english with the artcard. Some of the feeds are foriegn and even sometimes only the sound from the stadium is what you hear. The game the other night against reading was just like that with no commentary, but i actually enjoyd it,and was much more calm watching the game without some toss pot rubbing in how friggin bad our defence is and how many chances we miss etc, etc.

All good stuff. Keep it coming.

How easy is it to get your system (say the technomate 1500) to switch to different satellites for different feds etc and then say store favourite channels for future use?

                                In short mate NO
The picture quality is the same as sky Digital, picture perfect

sky is for the english market were satellite is mainly european, quite a few english channels but the majority is foriegn, some can be changed into english, but not all.

at the end of the day you get what you pay for, dont be misguided into thinking that you get all 5000 english channels

satellite is an alternative package ,as oppossed to sky or cable tv,I dont buy any cards anymore I wont buy ART TV OR DIGITAL ALB SUBSCRIPTION CARDS
I have been into satellite tv for far too ,ong and supplying and fitting the systems for a good few years

I watch most of the games for FREE AND DO NOT PAY FOR FILMS etc..

its deffo not for the feint hearted, its not like sky, sometimes its on sometimes its off,but at the End of the day it doesnot cost me £40 a month
                                its FREE
i HAVE HAD MY SYSTEM FOR OVER 6 YEARS and have no complaints
