They hardly covered themselves in glory by sacking Rafa and appointing Hodgson though.

You got a problem with ST mate?

I agree some of the posts re Broughton and Purslow were over the top, particularly those relating to the former. It seemed people were suspicious of Broughton for reasons I would consider a bit irrational (ie mainly because he is a Chelsea fan). It seems either he, Barcap, RBS or possibly a combination of all three, demanded sufficient safeguards be put in place to ensure a timely sale could be effected and credit to them for that because it has borne fruit.

Purslow is a bit of a different kettle of fish IMO. I was one who was highly critical of him, my reasoning being that irrespective of his impressive background in corporate finance which probably makes him a competent person to have at the helm of the club, he is not someone with any pedigree in making football-related decisions, irrespective of the fact that it is within his remit as Chief Exec. Some of the pronouncements he is rumoured to have made off the record point to someone who is egotistical, has delusions of grandeur, but how much stock can you place in rumours of his behaviour which originate from internet forums? What I would point to is the whole Rafa debacle and chosing his replacement, which was dealt with poorly and in an undignified manner. And it seems they sought the advice of Kenny in seeking an appointment yet disnefranchised him from the process. Given people's emotional ties to both Rafa and Kenny I can see why they have focused some of their ire on him. I wouldn't single out ST for this, look at that Purslow banner that was unveiled at the Sunderland sit-in and the pre-Blackpool SOS march. The reaction towards Purslow on ST is in some way reflective of the wider contempt he was held in by Liverpool fans for the Rafa debacle.

Anyway, it's probably a bit of a rambling post which adds nothing to the debate, but I really hope you don't feel that ST is a place you can no longer visit because of the odd over the top poster and irrational post during a volatile time in the history of our club. It's still a great site which has hopefully suffered only a temporary blip, and I hope we'll still see you on there regularly.

Both Rafa and Purslow couldn't stay so one of them had to go. If Purslow had gone then this sale would probably not happened. Everyone know that I'm a big Rafa supporter but Rafa leaving was the best option for the club at that time.

              Rafa simply had to go

They got it totally wrong when they signed up Hodgson. They should have looked at a manager that suited the club, that means pass and move football. Any manager that doesn't use pass and move football shouldn't even been considered. That decision will end up cost the club a lot of money.

I think you are 100% right but lets face it I think with Purslow you going to get a few good and a few bad decisions and think he has earned himself mroe than a few brownie points today

Tom was spot on from the very beginning, but in 2007 very few people had the foresight to predict how truly bad the Yanks were for the club. The bigger surprise for me was how many posters still couldn't acknowledge the Yanks's ****ness well after 2007, when it was evident we were getting shafted.

Getting rid of hicks and gillett means we can finally look to the future again. Had the court case not gone in our favour it would've meant the end for us, at least in the short - medium term.

no they are not. only logic behind removing rafa was to get a manger that would push on from where he had gone wrong. Sacking rafa and replacing him with hodgson is the same catastrophic decision
