    Jermaine Pedant

Taken some stick recently for being pants, justifiably so - but last night he looked like the player we all hoped we'd bought - thought he was mint, involved in first 3 goals - let's hope that form continues now.

Funny how he played so well without SG and Xabi in the team.

Looks to me that if he feels he's one of the main men he grows in confidence hence his performance last night.

I don't know what your problem is but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce

Good performance but he needs to put in the same level of performance week in and week out and not against weak teams like Reading.

        But it`s a start.
Let`s hope he can build on this.

To be honest this could apply to our entire team, I think people have unfairly focussed on Pennant.

Not necessarily, I think it is a case of him finding his level - which is against the weaker Premiership sides at home.

I'm not sure we don't have to change the team formation and expectations to accomodate a genuine winger. It is easier to do this against weaker sides especially in the cup where the pressure is off a bit. In time however I expect him to be an option for most games.

Well we'll see in future games wont we, hope you have to eat those words.

Great performance from Pennant last night. Cutting inside paid off for once and his passing was better than it has been yet in a Red shirt. Keep it up lad.

                      Good on you Shaggy.

I've noticed you've been rather pissed off with Pennant of late, like many others, but at least you can come out and recognise he played well and compliment him.

Credit where credit's due. He played well last night.

He still looks a bit lost trying to be the winger he's always been to me though. He goes down cul de sacs when trying to beat a man on the outside.

I noticed he was doing a lot of diagonal runs from right to left and looked like a roaming right to central player. He was positioned very centrally for a lot of the game i thought.

You can't really argue with a big hand in 3 goals against Premiership opposition.

All you can do is give the credit that's due, and hope it continues. I'd be well happy to get me eye wiped on this one.

That's what it's all about innit? Tell it how you see it....tell it how it is. I can't understand those who decide they don't like a player (come in PETER CROUCH!) and yet choose to ignore all the good performances/goals and continue slating them simply in a vain bid to somehow "save face".

                          Ridiculous.

i was "woe is me" when we signed him. I DO have a pre conceived idea of JP due to watching him elsewhere.

He played very well last night so fair do's. More of the same please.

I've a sneaking suspicion Rafa is training him to be a wide man who roams centrally though based on the way he played last night.

I was exactly the same when we signed him. I remember a Pennant thread on KT that ran to over 30 pages, which was basically a petty debate between me and another (pro-Pennant) lad....Naveed?

Anyway, like Bellamy, I always hope these sort of players ram my negativity right down my throat. Wouldn't want it any other way.

In fairness Pennant did start quite well for us but has had a shocking couple of months. Last night will help his confidence.
