Reporters asked Hodgson if he felt as though today's defeat could be classed as a missed opportunity to build on the surge of optimism following the sale to NESV on Friday.

He replied: "Yes, of course I feel that. This would have been the ideal opportunity to turn things around on the back of the entry of the new owners and the way that has been received by everyone. To get a result here and win the game would have been utopia.

"But I can only analyse the performance and there is no point in attempting to analyse dreams. The dream was we would come here on the back of new owners and win the game, but we had to play a game of football."

Found it very interesting that he suggested in the interview that he might be the only person who thought we played well today. So he actually realises himself that he's deluded. FFS!

Surely some of the senior players will be having a quiet word to NESV soon, even if the board aren't lining someone else up as we speak. This can't g oon much longer, surely.

He is not to blame alone, the players have done nothing themselves but they arent as easy to sack.
In fairness, Konchesky is also terrible, but I agree wholeheartedly about the comparison with Sammy Lee at Bolton. They wisely saw that things were just not going to improve and showed him the door pronto. We need our new owners to do precisely the same with the hapless and hopeless idiotic Hodgson

Torres' game is suffering because Hodgson isn't using him properly.

Gerrard is lost. He is all over the pitch, trying to do too much. Hodgson doesn't know how to get the best of him.

We're basically playing a 4-5-1 formation, with Gerrard dropping very deep, even as deep as picking up the ball from his defenders.

Our shape is appalling. I've never seen something like this. It's getting worse and it won't get better with him in charge.

I know - what a ****ing hardship. We had to play some football, which prevented us from 'dreaming' about winning --- a game of football----

Don't need to point it out of course to anyone here, but you can tell its all premeditated..................Cunt Jamie goes on about players brought in (even back to Sissoko by the way) and players lost.....and somehow Poulsen gets mentioned (no doubt by mistake).
The Monkey immediately latches onto that and brings up how all but one of them mentioned wasn't signed by Roy...................there were almost holding the script for ****s sake.

Thanks Roy, wasn't sure how the whole "good team" thing worked but i'm glad you've explained it

Guess the point is I'm expecting too much from Sky to expect any kind of serious analysis around team selection, tactics, defensive setup etc etc from Roy.............no, no, it all just comes down to the players Rafa signed

Rafa won 55% of his games. That more or less guarantee at least a fight for fourth place every season. We now have a manager that won 25% of his games in the PL. That more or less guarantee you a relegation fight. He got a good Blackburn team relegated.

We had a manager that set up the team so we would have a chance to win against every team in the world. We now have a manager that set up the team so our opponents will batter us.
