Rafa was spot on when he said the board at liverpool don't understand football.

Did us proud in court...but woefull performance when it comes to football matters.

One day a huge club will be relegated, not leeds or newcastle...a huge club, and right now...i'm very worried at the advice nesv are getting from within this club.

He was a bad signing, but he filled a hole. Think we also had Voronin then?? Equally ****, but again - he filled a hole in the squad. They may be average at best, but if they're not replaced by someone, players are missed.

It's a squad that had 16 players at the world cup in the summer, and around 10 of them were first choice there for their countries. It should be able to swat aside teams like Blackpool at home comfortably, regardless of the step down in quality.
I'm not saying we should be bottom 3 with that squad. We should still be challenging top 6 at least IMO.

Just saying the squad is not as good as I would have at first thought, and needs a few first teamers before it can challenge at the top again, regardless of the manager.

I have decided that I will not watch another game under Roy, I just can't take it. It pains me to see the team playing like amateurs, seeing them falling further and further down the table and listening to Roy spouting nonsense after each disaster of a match. I just can't justify wasting my time watching that crap, it ruins my day.

I'll still be avidly posting about Roy though Get out Roy

He's been one of our better players since he signed.
I doubt anyone will suggest Soto is top class. To challenge for the title you need a CB partnership that concists of two top class CB's. Look at the CBs of teams that win the major prizes.

Would he be acceptable as back up? At a push. But I would say that of our 4 current CBs at least 2 probably need to go, and I think we have at least two current CBs who I'd keep ahead of Soto.

            --------

how to build a title winning squad? Keep your first teamers. Replace the reserves with players better than your first teamers. The reserves move on, the new players move into the first team and the current first teamers drop into the reserves and make your whole squad depth stronger.

Sadly we have not been in a position to do that. Hopefully we now are.

The point I was making was in direct reference to the assessment posted. "Really, REALLY not good at all" - which is bollocks. Paints him to have been a complete liability, which is horse****.

He was bought in as 4th choice let's not forget. It's only been due to injury/loss of form that he has played so much. Is he really any worse than Johnny Evans for example?

Arghhhhhhhhh, just heard Phil Neville saying how liverpool have to much quality to be "down there for to long"...and..."just look at the manager..he's grreat...look at hbis record over the years so i don't think they'll be there for too much longer"... ffs noone ever said **** like that about Rafa when he needed support....and he really does have a winning cv...with real trophies won..and done in a quarter of the time Hodgsons managed, ffs we've been royally duped.... Rafa for Hodgson... and now our enemies are telling us we have a good manager...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! IT'S TOOOO MUCH TO TAKE!

When we came second that was a fantastic quartet. Since then Sami has left, Skrtel has lost form and Agger continues to be blighted by injury everytime he looks ready to stake a claim. Carra has also lost a yard of pace.

When we went into that season we were solid at CB. A season and a quarter has shown we no longer are. We are in desperate need of a new top class CB. Add to that a lb, the need for Glen to sort his form out, at least one wide player, etc etc.

                    We are a mess.
Roy doesnt even pick Agger when hes fit

                      It is absolutely insane.

All these people saying "look at his record" - I suspect none of them actually have, and merely recall the job he did at Fulham.......which, while no doubt decent, wasn't actually as good as the job CHRIS COLEMAN did at Fulham.

Roy's CV is ****e. 12 jobs in 15 years says it all.

Fair play. He does look like Bambi on ice when the balls on the deck at times but he ain't dreadful. I wouldn't say he was LFC class. (as in quality) but he ain't terrible.

But if was building a title winning squad I wouldn't hang on to him, and that was the point of the original article.

That said, you can go through any title winning squad and find players who you would normally say aren't good enough for a title winning squad

How to build a title winning squad IMO.

Get in a manager that get complete power and can sell whoever he want and buy whoever he want as long as the budget allows it.

You usually need 14, 15 excellent players and four, five very good ones. The rest of the squad can be filled up with youngsters.

The strongest starting XI can't have any holes in it at all. If you have that then you simply won't win the CL or PL.

Give the youngsters that deserve it a chance instead of signing up 30 year old players. Shelvey instead of Poulsen for example. That gives the whole club a lift and shows that the youngsters will get a chance and that we will only sign top class players.

Try and sign top class players even if you miss out on a lot of them and by that way show that you have the ambition to get them to the club. If you show ambition then it will make it easier to get the best players to sign for the club.

Sign up top class young talents even if cost £10m+ to do it. Shows long term ambition. If the next Messi or Aguero cost £10m+ and the manager want him then the money should be there. That means that you sometimes must give the manager some extra money if a special talent is available. Not every season but the money should be there. He shouldn't need to spend money from his transfer budget buying that player because the player won't deliver until maybe two, three years later.
