Hodgson fears for friendship
Roy Hodgson is worried he has jeopardised his "excellent relationship" with Sir Alex Ferguson by joining Liverpool.
The former Fulham manager is fretting over making a first phone call to the Manchester United chief since being unveiled on Merseyside on Thursday.
Liverpool and United are arch-rivals in the Barclays Premier League and Hodgson fears that it could put a strain on his friendship with Ferguson.
moving north
The Reds manager said: "I know Sir Alex is not really a Liverpool man so I'm a bit concerned about my excellent relationship with him.
"I hope he forgives me for moving north and, hopefully, we can have a glass of wine together, maybe in secret.
"I hope that's how he is going to see it but he is one of the people I intend to ring to find out.
"When I rang the Fulham chairman to say I wished to move to Liverpool, that was one call I had to get out of the way and Alex might be the next one.
"I must say I've always believed you don't have battles with other managers.
"Football teams have battles with other football teams, clubs have battles with other clubs and I've never subscribed to that theory that it's me and you.
"I used to find it quite ridiculous in Italy when they used to compare your record against another manager. It's a nonsense.
"If you happen to be manager of a club who is fighting for survival against a club which wins the title every year, the chances are that in the battles you've had he's won one and you've won five. That's the way it goes."
Meanwhile, Hodgson has indicated that he will be prepared to offer fringe players in his inherited squad the chance to impress.
He said: "Whenever a new manager comes in, players who have been on the periphery start to see it and maybe think, 'this could be my chance, I'll have a go'.
"You'd be foolish as a manager not to give them that chance."
Glass of wine my ass... Fergie will have popped the champagne when he heard Woy got the job!

Right, he's doing it on purpose now.

You know I stood way back from this, gave him the benefit of the doubt and refrained from calling him a cunt. I wouldn't sing songs against him and will support him for as long as he is the manager BUT I made the mistake of reading his comments on Man U and Torres yesterday before going to bed and it got me livid!
He is casting his failures as justified by lowering the value and expectations of LFC and although I wont ever call for him to be sacked I do hope it happens soon. His comments are just utterly shocking. That said I don't think there is any concern here at all as he is a dead man walking of that I have absolutely no doubt.

Thats why i think he is falling out with our star players so he can ship them off in january and replace them with the quality of players like Poulson who will be happy to go along with Roys expectations. He is dragging us down to his level so he can then cope with being LFC manager.
If he leaves so what... but he cannot mention Torres and United in the same sentence IMO. I'd rather he'd said: If Torres want's to leave one day, there is nothing I can do. But I can promise you one thing. I'd rather burn in hell then sell one of our players to United... (except Poulsen)!
IMO he shows that he knows nothing about our rivalry with them!
Riddle:
How can you tell if Roy is spouting ****?
Answer: His lips move!
Of course he does. It's near as big as Fulham-Chelsea don't you know.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Thankfully he wont get the chance for that to happen. I think given the delicacy if the situation with H&G, NESV will be keeping a very close eye on things and it's pretty obvious now that Roy has lost both the team and the fans.

I think you're right but I'd feel happier if I knew for sure the owners are aware of how the fans feel.
He's got a big mouth but everything else about him is small - he's small-time, small-minded and too small for a big club. Talks big, thinks small.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
Rightly or wrongly my opinion of Carragher has started to sour somewhat.
I'm the same. Extremely strange timing of his new contract just hours before the takeover was complete.
I know they have to come out and back Roy but he never did the same for Rafa did he? (it's not like we were ever in such a dreadful position as we are under Roy either). I reckon he knew Rafa was going to faze him out so took steps to elongate his LFC career.
He's made his bed so can ****ing lie in it as far as i'm concerned. His star has faded and we need to look at alternatives for the future. Not sure his new contract will represent value to the new owners either.
