i'll say it again: nesv are not shy with the money provided what they're buying is worth it. since most players are overpriced, we wouldn't i don't think be very interested in that sort of player, unless we get a decent price. which i think is fair enough.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostFrom some of the things Henry's been saying, i'm starting to get more and more worried that he wont be as generous with the money as we'd hoped.
on the other hand the average player at the club will be of a higher level than now, and we'll be bringing through tomorrow's talent, like the spurs berbatov deal.dave of mutilation

Well maybe that's what they dont understand then - in football, the best players ARE overpriced, that's how it goes. Ronaldo isnt worth £80m, but that's what it costs to buy them. Either Mr Henry and Mr Werner start to understand this, or them being 'here to win' will be nothing more than a cliche'd and hollow phrase akin, dare i say, to the 'spade in the ground' beauty we fell for.

I think they will be willing to spend it but they will use Wenger's model and focus spending primarily on young and coming talented footballers and not on already established quality players.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostFrom some of the things Henry's been saying, i'm starting to get more and more worried that he wont be as generous with the money as we'd hoped.
If that is the road they will pursue it will take us long, long time to be competitive at the highest level as Arsene did not build Arsenal over night.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Arsene has also won **** all for 5 years. Largely because his squad lacks the leaders and mentally strong players who have experience of winning things, and are usually considered 'older' more established players.
You need a mixture to be successful. If we're going to exclusively dismiss these types of player as a rule, then Henry and Werner, who said they're hear to listen and learn, need to do so.

I dont think he gave us any indication that he was going to be any sort of sugar daddy in regards to splashing big bucks around. It certainly was not the impression i got anyway.

Yes the article is harsh on Raul, but Roy also chimes in with some more Sky Sports style quote.Originally posted by Shaggy View Post"More and more we bring players into our teams who are gifted individuals, but they don't always have that fight in them as well," Hodgson observed. "Football has changed, and in [Jamie] Carragher and Gerrard we do have two of a dying breed. They are Liverpool through and through, and not only that but they have the quality, guts and desire to play for Liverpool. Most managers would say they are the type of player we really want, but they are much harder to find these days.
"United have their share with [Paul] Scholes and [Ryan] Giggs, but if you go through the Premier League these days, it's not so easy to name many of them. We recruit talent from abroad, but they might not have that burning heart which refuses to accept defeat, as Steven did against Napoli."
Overall, happy with the article as at the very least Roy won't get a chance to waste the club's money and at best he will get the boot in the relative near future.

They aren't mugs. They've built a winning team at Fenway Park and they do spend OTT for a player if they feel it is necessary.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostArsene has also won **** all for 5 years. The only thing is, they'll be looking at value.Patience when teased often, transforms into rage

You don't always have to buy over priced bunnies to win. You can look for good value deals. VdV for 8m was a steal. Modric for 16m at that time was a good deal too.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostWell maybe that's what they dont understand then - in football, the best players ARE overpriced, that's how it goes. If you look around properly, there are always good players for lesser money than the over rated media fed players for higher sums.
Eden Hazard for 15-20m anyone?Patience when teased often, transforms into rage
