generally i think most people agree the best signings tend to be in the summer. Not excursively but in the main it is true.

also in the past people have said rather than buy someone who isnt good enough save the money till you can get the right targets.

This is all out of the window for some people because we have a crap manager.

Erm....maybe the fact that we're ****, means that more players would be 'right targets' for us, because they'd be better than what we've got? And maybe because we're on the cusp of being shifted out of the race for a CL place, people are thinking urgent improvements need to be made, and we cannot afford to be waiting around until the summer when we'll have ****ed up another season, thus costing us money and making us even less attractive to prospective new signings?

Great so NESV are backing Roy and not spending in January? Great. We all know a quick fix is not on the cards but the need to strengthen the squad is there for all too see. This is massively irritating. Looks like we are stuck with Roy Chuckle for a while yet

If they come out and say "We've got loads of money and we're going to spend it" it'll hardly have a positive affect on transfer fees for us

The key to improvement is to bring in better than you've got.

Tbh, I never expected a quick fix in the transfer Market - that costs big money. We all knew Nesv were not our answer to the sheikhs. There plan is very much long term, buying potential (such as arsenal) means you never have to really spend big. What takes time is the initial phase of waiting for the new players to mature, until eventually you get to a position where you have a conveyor belt of talent with players at different stages.

It likely means we'll have no title challenge for the next three years at least - pretty sure the likes of Stevie and Carra weren't impressed by the long term vision, but neither would I if I was in their shoes either.

Of course as a fan I want to win now, I don't want to be totally arsenal where it seems it's all about tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes. But I can buy into a long term vision, as long as there are signs of progress along the way. Buying the best young talent would be one way of showing this. And if this young talent is seasoned enough to walk straight into our first team, then even better.

But to really believe in this vision I need a manager and style of football that I can believe in again. Something that will make me want to watch us again for ghe sheer pleasure of it, as opposed to watching us out of habit.

I will admit that if I don't see a change in manager soon I will start to rapidly lose faith in the long term vision of Nesv.

You do wonder after the comment in the recent press conference where Rafa said he 'liked Carragher as a player' whether the feeling was mutual. For all the talk of Carragher being studious he very often comes across as a stubborn hot head whose ideas about football are rooted in many of the same ways of thinking as those of Hodgson. While he is always willing to fight his own corner some of his comments often come across all a bit Danny Murphy for my liking.

why else would you ring up talksport and get emotional / goto SOS meetings if you werent emotional or hotheaded.

I dont think he will ever be as successful as a manager as he has been as a player
