What, he doesn`t want to work in Norway again?
After his great results at Viking (fifth and ninth).

5th and 9th. In Norway (no disrespect).

And yet the accepted wisdom is "his record his brilliant".

        I stopped reading after that.

What position was Gerrard playing? Because I couldn't tell you. Were we playing 3 in midfield? Or was it 2? Who was Lucas' partner? Who was meant to link up with Torres? Who was meant to show for the ball deep?

Gerrard is playing with the "freedom" to do what the hell he likes - we stopped that six years ago.

Gerrard is a class player but needs direction.

He was infuriating yesterday, especially in the 2nd half when he tried to do everything himself.

And (I can't believe this is STILL an issue) as for his ****ing corners

Gerrard didnt even know what position he was playing

Comedy moment of the whole game was when one of the substitution was being made Gerrard walked over to the sideline arms out stretched as if to say where am I playing

Hodgson took one look at him and sat down

Gerrard was our best player yesterday but he badly lacks discipline and wanders too much

You can never fault Gerrard's efforts, but he should understand that football is played with the brains as well.
Funny you should say that, having chat with lads down the pub about the exact point you just said. There were 2 times yesterday where we were all screaming for Stevie to take a shot and he passed instead, and we were saying if that was a few years ago that would have been in the back of the net or at least shot and worked the keeper.

Gerrard has cut out alot of the hollywood balls he used do and trying to do everything on his own, but he is an immense talent, on his day he is the best all round midfielder on the planet.

Saying he was gash is ****ing ridiculous mate, i said class ok maybe slightly exaggerated, he was very good but saying he was gash is just blatantly untrue. He has put in excellent performances in last 4 games or so and is the only one that is trying to make things happen, not his fault things are a mess and Roy's tactics are all over the place.

It is almost impossible to disrespect Tippeligaen, it`s pretty ****.
He did a decent job at Viking, mainly in helping the club being more proffesional. But he wasn`t a tectal genius, even by norwegian standards.

Given my knowledge of Norwegian tactics extends no further than famed wellington-wearer Egil Olsen, that reads as the most damning criticism of Hoxhson yet.
                    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I didn't find it infuriating at all. We had absolutely zero ideas and were cruising to a defeat. Gerrard rampaging round improved us rather than weakened us. Even if it isn't a coherent and sustainable way for us to play, in the absense of anything else (and by that I mean stringing two passes together) I'll take it.

But Joe Cole's crossing, well **** me they were utter pish. Again and again. Cole, Carra, Konchesky and Maxi as our routes into the box, that's a ****ing poor set up.

Cole's problem is he always has to cut back on his right

So when the ball goes out to him attackers make a run based on the ball being delivered early

When he checks and cuts back to cross the defenders are able to just move into position to prevent the cross and with the attackers now static they are generally ineffective

That's like saying I'd rather be punched in the face once than take a flurry of blows and kicks.

He was the least bad of a grim bunch yesterday but we won't win games if he's tearing around playing in no discernible position. He leaves his team mates exposed and bewildered. Last time he did that at Goodison he got the hook, and we changed the game and won.

We won't win games either way so may as well have at least something to watch.

Hard to argue with that logic

How dare you question the mighty Drillo?
He took Norway 2nd place in the FIFA ranking in the ninthies and we`re looking at a top ten place now that he`s back.
That his tactics ruined norwegian football for the next decade is something else.
Basically norwegian football is very tactic oriented, even from a young age. We don`t care if you are able to control and pass a ball, as long as you know where your place on the field is.
