forget about rafa....he's gone Hodgson signed for Liverpool on the 1st July 2010

he's been here now 3 and half months. - Yes we have had major major problems off the field

but on the field - he has at his disposal 3 undisputed world class players...noone, not even the bitterest of blue****e can deny that. - Other than he has a load of experienced premier league/internationals he can use - as well as a few of his own signings that he 'knows' - plus a handfull of promising youth

He's had around 15 competitive games and been here as I say nearly 4 months....and there is nothing positive anyone can say about hodgson.......the only positive thing I here in relation to hodgson is.......

- he was left with ****e
- he hasn't been here long enough
- he did well with fulham...

thats ****ing it!!! - thats the whole arguement in his favour. There is nothing mentioned about whats actually happening on the pitch!

When we sacked Rafa he made similar comments to your mate (about leaving ****e)

In the summer when we appointed hodgson and I said at the time I was not enthralled (to say the least) he said we should give him time

Even before the Sunderland game he was saying that we should give Roy more time

We both watched the Sunderland game in a local boozer and afterwards his opinion was we should get rid asap

Now fast forward to this weekend went out with him again Saturday afternoon for a few jars and we got round to talking about the situation. He thought we might spoof a draw or even a win against Everton but I was adamant that we would lose "comfortably"

But we were going over things and even he admitted that although in his opinion there are players that Rafa bought that are quite simply not good enough Roy has conspired to make those players look even worse

He is genuinely of the opinion that if we keep Roy we WILL be relegated, and as he says he speaks from experience about knowing **** football

Its shocking and so is Roy

i just don't know what to think - i'm gobsmacked....everton fan in work..

it's not hodgsons fault, he had no chance/time time in the summer to mould his squad, rafa left him with a rotten squad, etc etc etc

right – lets’ get one thing straight – forget about rafa, forget about ownership issues.....lets just look at the players.


- Gerrard – top class midfielder,
- Torres – top class striker
- Reina – top class goalkeeper

- Johnson – regular international England right back
- Agger- classy centre back, experienced international highly thought off
- Carra – Liverpool legend, been there done it
- Joe Cole – many believe what Liverpool are missing – a ‘footballer’ something we have lacked – again experienced international with England
- Kuyt – mr reliable – experienced dutch international

So 8 players - that are of a capable standard. - As well as them, we have Konchesky (signed by hodgson) and Poulsen (hodgson signing who he has a hard on for)

As well as them – we have skrtel/kyriakos/lucas/ngog/maxi/meireles/jovanovic/babel

Who say what u want about them – between them they have played enough premier league/international/top level football.

On top of that – finally, we have Pacheco/shelvey/Kelly/Wilson and a few others, some of our most promising youngsters in a few years.



So – **** all the rafa/ownership/not enough time for hodgson ****e....

There is enough players there, to at least show something! That there is a sign of improvement, moving forward, or something that makes you think hmm this side when they gel will be ok

But i’ve seen nothing but ****e, non progressive, terrible terrible football in every match – the 8 premier league games, the 4 or 5 europa games and that Northampton game!!!

Even under souness/evans/houllier/benitez – when we were out of form, playing badly, you felt that a bit of luck would change it, or there was still signs that the next game we could put it right.


The worry for me is i am just not seeing anything of the sort – these players just don’t look capable of beating anyone

Something is badly wrong! – i do believe the players have to take a certain amount of responsibility – they have to look at themselves

But hodgson is certainly a major factor – he isn’t getting the players motivated, he obviously isn’t telling them to go and play like ****e, so he must be having issues with getting his ideas over, they are not responding to him for whatever reasons it just isnt’ working

I wasn’t expecting hodgson to come in, the team gel and we’d smash everyone! But he has been at the club now what 3 or 4 months and in total what about 15 games!! And i have not seen anything, that has made me think....hmm give him a chance, it just needs bit of luck, or anything.....everything he has done just makes me angry.....and the interviews are just cringy – did he really say that he believes that yesterday was the best he has seen us play under his management.....well **** me roy, it might well have been but that doesn’t say much about the other 15 games does it.

Why did you merge this?

It was meant to be a more positive thread about how quickly we can improve, and that I can see some really big positives in our current predicament.

Wasn't me, however I suspect it was done because although your initial post was positive, that doesn't mean the thread coming after it wouldn't end up in the same basic discussion as another one.

Essentially you were hypothesising where we could end up if things turn around, while this one was hypothesising where we could end up if things continue to go badly, different perspectives on the same concept really. Given how much else has had to be merged recently to prevent a swamp in here, that was commonality enough imo. All discussions in here are ending up the same right now anyway, could probably just merge every bloody thread into something like the anti-Victorious in Court thread

Reese's big post above makes me wonder about the squad itself. Just so you know I want Roy out but I can't help but feel that something is wrong with the squad. On the pitch its so wrong.

When we have the ball we don't know what do to. Every players is expecting everyone else to create something. The runs off the ball are hopeless.

We pass hopeless balls up to Torres which even the passer doesn't expect him to get to.

There is no natural flow to the play. Its not even the lack of a creative player its just the lack of anticapation and natural expectations of what is going where.

Sure Roy is ****ing us over and the ownership battle has too, but maybe just maybe its time the squad as a whole moved on bit by bit and we looked towards creating a more wholistic approach to the team like Valencia has managed to do. And get rid of what might be a team which is past its used by date.

But it doesn't need to be like that!

We have plenty of players who can actually play.

If we lined up like this, and our training was focusing on US taking control of matches and creating chances, I doubt we would need that much new players:

It's not a bad line up. It should be easy to fix in january if the funds are there.
Koncheskey isn't a disaster - Roy is. Sure we need better than him, but he's decent.
