Bit of a contrast with Ronnie Whelan all the same,
was a good player for us back in the day, but his analysis these days shows that he is completely isolated from the club, not to mention his borderline hatred of Rafa over the last few years.
When asked a couple weeks back about the takeover being completed etc, it was like some old pro from a club nothing to with them - it was all they, them, they need to do this etc, shows not affection for the club whatsoever. His ManU support from his childhood has come racing to the surface since he stopped playing IMO. Wouldn't mind so much only he uses RTEs football shows as his own personal stick to hit us with, even when we aren't playing !!

Not that Rafa is beyond criticism just that I expected Thommo to rise above jumping on the bandwagon and joining Wheelen, Houghton, Souness, Aldridge etc.... in putting the boot in.
Hodgson inherited a much stronger squad than Rafa inherited from Houllier and and and Houlliers assistant who's name is on the tip of my tongue............ wait, it'll come to me in a minute............. no it's gone again.

Hodgson is also used to the PL, there is/was absolutely no excuse for any ex player Thommo included to hide behind criticising the previous manager when the current one had this lot playing the worst football any Liverpool fan can remember and with us rooted firmly at the bottom of the table when a bang average start would see us top 6.

Aye exactly, ffs he's entitled to his opinion and to be fair whenever i saw him on Sky Sports last season he defended Rafa alot too.

Which is 100% fine but saying the squad Hodgson has to work with isn't good enough therefore by association saying it's alright to be bottom 3 at the minute becuase Rafa left a terrible squad is a lazy, hypocrical thing to say when A it is blatently untrue and B the squad Rafa left behind is a million miles better than the one Thompson and Houllier left behind.

That's before we get into Houllier and Thompson letting Owen run his contract down so he could leave for practically **** all.
Compare that to Ferguson signing Rooney up, is he now decides to sell him he has a long contract and a big fat wage to justify the fee for him.

Image the fuss if Rafa had let Torres' contract run down................

Just because a pundit happens to be an ex red doesn't make his shockingly inaccurate bollocks acceptable (ex reds in general, not just Thompson)
