Was it my imagination or did we drop deep again after fifteen minutes? Perhaps it was only the fact we had the ball for most of the opening 10 or 15 mins that made us look less hopelessly passive than usual.

Still it's obvious the main problem is that Gerrard isn't playing in central midfield.

And apart from the yellow card, Konchesky put in a beaut of a cross for Torres (missing) to bury. Plus a world class timed chip for Cole to make more of. Doesn't stop people calling him 'sh*t' anyway does it?

Because he has made a few errors in defence and been lacking in concentration. He has also played a lot of aimless balls forward instead of looking for a simpler, shorter pass. While his cross was good, it was hit too early for any of the 3 players in the box to actually have a chance of getting on the end of it.

He's been isolated upfront for weeks now with no wide men to feed him or competent midfielders to link up with.

4. Header from corner, a player half his value would have hit the target at least

It's Koncheskys positioning and tackling that worry me the most. Haven't seen him tackle and win the ball or block a cross yet.

He is an accident waiting to happen. I am surprised that Lee have not exploited him much so far.

This is the level we will be under Hodgson. The team is not set up to create chances and we're going to have to lower our expectations and get used to it. Like the previous poster I'd give my right arm to have Rafa in that dressing room at half time.
