Meireles would have been aces with Alonso.
Them two pulling the strings with Meireles' clever, short, intricite (sp) passing would compliment Alonso's vision and long passing game. If we had Mascherno destroying behind them and Gerrard making up with Torres and playing behind him - well that would have been mouth-watering. Granted we'd need some world-class full backs to provide the width, but still - what could have been.
Anyhoo, Gerrard looks pissed too. As I've said before, one decent performance and result against a team that bent over for us, is not going to paper over some massive cracks in our set-up.
