He's played further up for Pompey and he did really well. Personally though I think it's more us shifting him up because we have no decent wide players.

      He's a Right Back.

People are getting too carried away with the Bale factor. Johnson runs from deep and is one of the best attacking full backs around. Sure he gets caught out defensively now and again but show me an attacking full back who doesnt? It goes with the territory.

He gives us a lot more possibilities there than Carra that's for sure.

I just can't see him cutting it at RM unless of course his starting position was as deep as he normally is at RB (which wouldnt surprise me under Roy's tactics).

Glen doesn't need to start deep as he can beat a man and can use both feet meaning he can go outside or inside.

Personally I like him at rb as he gives us an extra attacking option. But he could do a job at rm, as he proved at Pompey.

what on earth are you blabbing on about? I think its meant to be a dig (which is totally uncalled for in the first place) but on the off chance that you are mistaking me for someone else, i forgive you

Glen would be twice the player that Bale is at the moment if he played full of confidence on the RW. His ability to cut in, use both feet and shooting ability puts some of our wingers to shame

My godness, that is a bold statement.

Heroically thick though he may be, Glen Johnson is a good player. He hasn't played well this season, though the same could be said of many of our players.

I don't like the idea of playing him at right midfield. He is not so poor defensively that it is causing a major problem and he will still provide something in attack even when played at full back, so to displace him with a more defensive full back would further limit our attacking options wouldn't it?

not sure - I think him and Kelly on the right would result in an over-all increase in attacking threat and fairly strong defensively.

Right wing without a shadow of a doubt! Just like Bale has become a Left winger! Johnson is wasted having to defend in the right back position.

Fair point Gillespie just made. If Roy was even considering playing Johnson at RM, surely this would have been the best opportunity to experiment, rather that force a centre midfielder out there.

                              1. Loose the stupid haircut Glen
                              2. Gain a little positional sense
                              3. Learn how to tackle
                              4. Gain a little more positional sense
                              5. Don't be an idiot, if you're under pressure infront of your own goal - hoof the ball as far away as possible for your team to regain shape and deal with potential danger
                              6. Gain some more positional sense
                              7. Learn how to cross a ball at least in the close proximity of Torres, trust me, he'll do the rest
