    39th Game

Evidently Tom Werner is asking the question, raising the prspect of a 39th game in the US according to the BBC.

I would rather it be a 37th or 35th game and they drop the league in size by one or two teams.
Jacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

**** idea, if only for the fact that it creates unequal fixtures.

        It's not going to happen.
Take the team there during pre-season, yes, but that is all.

          agree.

They should if they (the league and chairmen) are so desperate to play a game abroad for some ****ing stupid reason - shorten the league so say 36 games - and make one of those games during the season abroad

I dont understand how having it as 36 games would make any difference. You'd still have one league game no longer being played as a 'home' game and the sense of equality & symmetry would be completely gone.

It's one of the ****ter ideas anyone came up with. FFS, isnt the huge tv revenue they're getting now enough? Greedy cunts

Absolutely **** idea. Sure have pre-season tournaments like the Ajax one etc but doesnt make any sense to have a 'home' fixture out there.

just because the NFL does it solely out of profit reasons, is no reason why the PL should follow. Keep it where it belongs thank you.

It is inevitable and I hope we are one of the first clubs to play it. I would not make it an additional fixture though, just a regular league game out of the normal 38.

I just cant think of a way to do it that would be fair to all teams.

Somebody has to loose one of their home games to make it possible, and that means loosing home advantage. If it was our home game against Man Ure that was moved would anybody be happy about missing our home advantage? Play them at Anfield with the Kop in full song, or play them in some soulless American Football stadium where there's no support for either team? Playing behind closed doors is normally used as a punishment.

Its not just that. Some poor team would have to play Chelsea/pther strong team 3 times, while lucky teams (Man U no doubt) would get 3 cracks at a particular relegation candidate.

How would it not compromise the whole integrity of the league though?

How do you decide which club loses out on a home game in favour of playing out in USA or Dubai or wherever? And how can it be made fair, that some clubs might end up losing home advantage in a really tough game like home to Chelsea or United, while others will lose it for home games against Wigan or West Ham?

It's utterly ludicrous and if this is brought in, the PL might as well start using a points handicap system too, because any sense of symmetry and equality will be gone.

Another reason why such an idea makes a mockery of our league.
