Maybe a conference style all stars team based on where players come from...

Fifa already has one of those. It's called the World Cup.

            Nice idea, but no thanks.

If they really want to do something O/S have a mini club tournament based upon UEFA rankings in place of pre-season friendlies and rotate it between countries where you want the game to get exposure.

More meaningful than a friendly, but still basically just a warm up jazzed up a little so it as no negative impact on the team / players / EPL.

            Win / win?

Would have to be more than just PL teams but otherwise it would just be a blatant whoring ourselves abroad attempt. Would be nice to build the sport in those countries rather than just generating extra sky / fox etc subscribers.

If you are going to go 39th game, make it the last one, and have 1v2, 3v4 etc.

The league is normally over by then anway, although the relegation battle goes down to the wire, it wont end on home advantage to anyone.

Not a league game but maybe the semi finals of the carling cup. 2 games in different countries on neutral ground.

not any game. football is expensive enough without expecting us all to pay air fare and hotels and spends on top of the ticket. its nuts. kill the whole idea and let's stop giving this ridiculous, shameful premise any credibility.

Isnt this exactly what the World Club Championship is?

Personally i dont see how the idea could work, but there again like most people I have nt given too much detail thought to how it could work.

I guess its a bit like Shared Stadium

Its seems riduculous but makes finacial sense so probably will happen in the end.

As nobody has understands yet in what format this 39th game will work I prefer to reserve my judgement, although I prefer to think that it will be better as 37th or 35th game with a smaller premier league.

Well the World Club Championship is a joke really isn't it. I mean, who's arsed. Would be nice to win it but it's really just a European Charity Shield.

To start putting the season proper all over the world would be ****. If it happens I'm off and will watch non league footy only, and then cross my fingers and hope the Premiership eats itself.

A shared stadium doesn't seem ridiculous. It's extremely practical and if it wasn't for the tribalism of the game would be the obvious way to go forward. Not that I want it, but its the obvious pragmatic thing to do in order to share resources given that neither club use the same ground at the same time.

This is totally different. This is distorting the season for no other reason than money. Do the fans who watch week in week out not matter anymore? Stupid question actually. Course we don't.

Totally agree with you mate. Of course we dont matter. We'll only matter when we (en-masse) stop paying. Then the greedy ****ers will come running back to us, begging bowl in hand.

I can see the arguments for a smaller league but to be honest for me the main issue is with the uneven nature it would seemingly create making the league unfair. For me they are two seperate issues.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I like the idea of playing semi finals or finals of the carling cup overseas. Nobody cares about them anyway.

Maybe we could do a rugby league/union type thing whereby we play the Red Sox in baseball and they play us in football - top aggregate score wins?

Yes we do. We care enough to mean that should we reach the final that we get a chance to go to Wembley and watch the bloody thing without having to traipse half way across the world for it.

It's all ridiculous this. And all that will happen is that it'll go into the footballers pockets anyhow.

Every now and again can we think of the supporters who follow the club week in week out and pretend we're even part of this equation.

Next one to say it's a good idea, I'm setting my dog on them, and I don't even have a dog, but I'll buy one special
