I'd start Spearing in this match, at the expense of Meireles.

Can you accept the fact that i think Spearing is the better option for this match as opposed to Meireles as i feel he's more of a ball winner, he's a good passer and he can help out Lucas and Gerrard in a very tough away game?

We don't really have alot of options in fairness.

              I'd go for:

              ---------------- Reina ------------------

Carragher --- The Greek --- Skrtel --- Kelly

              ----- Lucas --- Spearing --- Gerrard

              ---- Kuyt ------------------------ Maxi

              ---------------- Torres ------------

**** all width but what can you do.

I can accept that YOU think it, yes. That part doesnt surprise me at all.

I dont accept that it's the case though, because it's utter twaddle.

But you've taken out Raul based on him being crap out wide and put Spearing in Raul's proper position. Stick Raul in the middle and he'll be twice the player.

This is going to be grim! We are going to the might Real Stoke (Well according to Roy anyway)

No, even with Mehreles in centre mid, i'd still prefer Spearing for this match. You can't get much more of battle than Stoke away on a cold Nov evening, i just think with Meireles being new to the English game and so far it doesn't look as if he's the type that relishes the physical stuff. Just think this one might be a bit much for him.

I say stick Raul on the bench and give Spearing a chance.

Probably won't happen but i don't think it's as crazy an idea as some are making it out to be.

Yep, you just know it'll be a dour affair with a Rory Delap throw in setting up the only goal of the game. Stoke 1-0.

I'd be surprised if we even get a point. The three points were badly needed last night to take the pressure off going into this.

In your next post you highlighted the issue of long throws but in this post you suggest Spearing?? Are you crazy.

Meireles is tall at least and can challenge unlike Spearing who is tiny. The whole game will be played above his head. As if Meireles doesn't get stuck in, its clear to see he is a commanding player and loves getting stuck in.

While on the point Meireles has a worrying habit of getting his studs up in tackles, nonetheless he is no powder puff player.

A player like Masch would relish this game and very few players in the world of his height are so effective in his postion, let alone some kid who probably won't make it at Liverpool, even now with our small and lacking squad.
