We don't really have alot of options in fairness.

Good god you'd pick the Munchkin for a Premier League game

Roy Hodgson has urged his players to embark upon a similar winning streak to the one that has helped revitalise Liverpool's season.

The Reds saw a run of four victories on the spin come to an end following the 1-1 draw at Wigan but the boss is now targeting another quickfire haul of points - beginning at Stoke on Saturday.

Hodgson said: "I am hoping the players will be fresh again at Stoke. I know it's the same for everybody but we had such a bad start to the season and we are still suffering the hangover effect from that.

"We have done extremely well in the Europa League so far and we have now gone on a six-game unbeaten run. That's good but we've still got an awful lot of work to do.

"Away matches in this league are all very tough and we will have to work very hard to get a good result.

"We will try to deal with the problems Stoke cause us as well as causing them a lot of problems ourselves.

"I know how Stoke play and I'm hoping we can go there and put on a good performance.

"They will be buoyed by their win over Birmingham City on Tuesday, but we have got to make certain we get ourselves back on track and we start producing the performances we showed against Chelsea, Blackburn, Bolton and Napoli and less of the display we had against Wigan."

The Reds head to the Britannia Stadium having won just one Barclays Premier League match on the road so far this season.

However, Hodgson remains confident they will improve upon that record in the forthcoming weeks.

"You have to build up solutions to picking up more points on the road and you do this by playing well," he said.

"That's all you can do and if you are not playing at the top of your form there is no magical solutions to that.

"We have got a point at Birmingham, got a victory at Bolton followed by another point at Wigan so it's not as catastrophic as the matches we've lost at Manchester City, Manchester United, and the derby at Everton.

"At the moment we don't claim to be a team that can sweep everything in front of us aside.

"We have got a way to go before we reach that stage but we are working hard at it and will continue to do so."

Am I right to think this is on tele?
            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

              ESPN.

I think 4 of our next 5 games are on ESPN in fact.

Which is nice as I cancelled it at the end of last season.

Gotta remember to call them before it expires to cancel it, otherwise it automatically renews and they need '31 days notice' to cancel the subscription.

Always bloody hoping isnt he? Followed swiftly by another excuse so because we had a bad run that means we'll continue in that vain?

"We have done extremely well in the Europa League so far and we have now gone on a six-game unbeaten run. That's good but we've still got an awful lot of work to do.

Against those powerhouses of European football. If the truth be told Roy we've been pretty dire in the EL too. Flattering home score lines against Steau and Napoli and atrocious away performances at Napoli and Utrecht. Granted we'll qualify from the group but that should be an absolute minimum requirement IMO. The fact he's always harping on about the Europa League suggests to me he sees it as a huge trophy

"Away matches in this league are all very tough and we will have to work very hard to get a good result.

                          Another excuse, limiting expectation.

"We will try to deal with the problems Stoke cause us as well as causing them a lot of problems ourselves.

"I know how Stoke play and I'm hoping we can go there and put on a good performance.

How about planning and imposing our game plan rather than hoping we play well Royston?

"They will be buoyed by their win over Birmingham City on Tuesday, but we have got to make certain we get ourselves back on track and we start producing the performances we showed against Chelsea, Blackburn, Bolton and Napoli and less of the display we had against Wigan."

IMO we only played well in parts of theses matches and the scorelines flattered us to a certain extent.

The Reds head to the Britannia Stadium having won just one Barclays Premier League match on the road so far this season.

However, Hodgson remains confident they will improve upon that record in the forthcoming weeks.

WTF??? You can imagine Roys teamtalk 'Right lads, i want you to go out there today and play really well. *claps hands furiously* 'Come on, come on'

"That's all you can do and if you are not playing at the top of your form there is no magical solutions to that.

Again wtf is he on about? Seems to be blaming form for anytime we lose or draw.

"We have got a point at Birmingham, got a victory at Bolton followed by another point at Wigan so it's not as catastrophic as the matches we've lost at Manchester City, Manchester United, and the derby at Everton.

Again wtf!! He loves to inform us of his results. What exactly is the point? He's highlighting his own appalling away record. He just needs to shut up talking. This is pointless information.

"At the moment we don't claim to be a team that can sweep everything in front of us aside.

"We have got a way to go before we reach that stage but we are working hard at it and will continue to do so.

Again excellent dampening down of expectations. Getting the excuses in early. I ****ing despair i really do......i cannot abide the dinosaur.

Admittedly, this bit worries me. But as I've said elsewhere, its in his own hands. If he's willing to adapt he'll survive a little longer.

I do believe the 'low energy' performance by us on Weds will see a marked improvement against Stoke. Lucas and Kuyt specifically getting a 'break' against Wigan will see us play much better.
