Rip.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

RIP Martin indeed.
You take the LMAs Manager of the Year (award). That shows he has the respect of his peers. That is a respect he has earned, not just last year which was an outstanding performance but over a long period of time.
Roy brings precisely the sort of experience (we need). He has been around, dealt with lots of international players in different scenes. He is English but he is cosmopolitan. He has got the experience. We also need someone who is going to steady the ship.
Roy has got all of the talents we are looking for. We didnt start off with a first choice. We wanted to have a proper, professional process. We didnt say A was favourite or B was favourite.
We talked to a lot of people and there were a lot of applicants. There were a number of telephone interviews to form a short list. There were then a number of face-to-face interviews which Christian (Purslow) and Kenny Dalglish carried out.
They put their conclusions to the board and the board decided it would be best for the last two candidates to meet Christian and I over the weekend just gone; after tAre we winning?

I have no particular axe to grind with Kenny but I'm not sure why Purslow gets caned for Bodger's appointment but Kenny's reputation remains unsullied.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostThere were then a number of face-to-face interviews which Christian (Purslow) and Kenny Dalglish carried out.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Well I agree that anything's possible but he's a strong minded person and I'd be surprised if he had given Roy the nod if he was truly unhappy about the prospect of him becoming manager.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostCould it be the one where Kenny decided the applicants were so bad that he decided to put his own name forward as interim manager?
From the summer:
Kenny Dalglish has backed the appointment of Roy Hodgson as the new Liverpool manager.
Dalglish was a contender to replace Rafael Benitez at Anfield but has given his approval to the former Fulham boss, who took over at the Barclays Premier League club yesterday.
The Scot said in the Daily Mail: "I look very favourably on the appointment.

Of course not, but how many football related rumours and associated tittle tattle do you read every day?
If Kenny really had thought he was the wrong bloke a journo somewhere would have hinted at it long before we got to the current situation.

I'm sure he did expect that he could do a decent job until the takeover was complete like most of us did, but significantly it was Purslow who played a key role in getting Rafa sacked in order to replace him with this buffoon.Originally posted by Cormack74 View PostWell I agree that anything's possible but he's a strong minded person and I'd be surprised if he had given Roy the nod if he was truly unhappy about the prospect of him becoming manager.

Well whilst that may be true it's a bit of a chicken and egg point that you make.
Anyway I initially posted in this thread in defence of Broughton (at least I intended to), but we seem to be on one of these cyclical Est discussions now with a favourite bete noire.
