He is playing well and deserves credit, but he isn't facing any threat from their left and he is free to move forward without much challenge. I don't see the contradiction.

I'm not. It's call perspective and context, which is why Roy will not be lauded as much as the scoreline might suggest. Consistently doing well against ****e is good. Doing well against quality is a different matter.
