I was talking generally - he generally doesnt get involved with celebrations.

As for not chasing the ball and closing players down - N'Gog and Kuyt managed it yesterday, why not Nando? Or is he too good for that?

The others manage to go and sit on the bench - why cant he?
You could turn round and say the same things about Gerrard last season

Previous captains havent blamed their teammates when their own form / skills go to **** so why should Gerrard?

As for closing people down yesterday was an exception rather than a rule

Generally our players dont close people down and even yesterday its wasnt massively prevailant

        Gerrard was never like this.

And even if he had been, at least he's given us 10 years of superb service.

          Kind of excuse is that?

I'm with Arn in that he has been a less than ideal captain in the past. If I'm being honest had I been manager I'd have took the armband of him a long time a go.

I can understand why Stevie is annoyed, same goes Fernando. But when you are on top money you should be professional and stick at it.

And when you are captain you are an example to the side and should go above and beyond the call of duty in every sense. Not by being a one man show every now and again, but by trying your danm hardest and keping a united front in the dressing room.

That said, he lacks many skills a true Captain should have. The penny should have dropped for many when he left it to Xabi Alonso to calm down Mascherano in a game v Man Utd. Stevie was the closest to Masch and never got involved.

He's been our best player for a long time, and the most concistant down the years. But it doesn't make him a great captain.
          Forwards.......

Stevie is a LFC legend, best player the club has ever seen, but IMO Pepe reina should be the captain.

The point being, that he's had to put up with ****e for over a decade, you could kinda understand if he's had his fill of it. Having said that, he hasnt been as spoilt-brat as torres has this season.

Do **** off with that ****

You cant excuse it hes the club ****ing captain for ****s sake if anything he should be well above that

For me Gerrard has been a ****ing brilliant servant to the club but one of his flaws has been his ****ing sulking at times absolutely no different to Torres now

Bollocks didnt hear him complaining when we won the treble under Houllier or when we won the Champions League in 2005 nor when we won the FA Cup in 2006

Maybe he hasnt been a spoilt brat this season but he was a spoilt brat last season

And to me the most upsetting thing was that he wasnt a spoilt brat in October or whatever when our season finally went to **** he was like that from day one that season

Anyway hes got his wish hes finally got an Englishman installed as manager

So thats clearly why we arent seeing him sulking

Dalglish is our best player ever imo

Gerrard has too many flaws in his game mentally and in terms of intelligence for me

IMO it's easy to laud those who played in top sides and easy to have a go at those stuck with a side that averages about 4th best in the country during Stevie's tenure.

Dalglish deserved all the praise he got, but we may have seen a different Gerrard had he been playing for a top side as I don't think his flaws would have been so apparent then.

Playing in a top side still wouldnt have ironed out his game intelligence flaw

As for Kenny well he played for Scotland who werent a great side and although his performances probably were not as great as they were in an LFC shrt he still had the top class attitude even when playing amongst those players

You are sending like an apologist for Gerrard

Arns views are completely contrary to mine on Gerrard for some bizarre reason he feels selling the player would benefit us I dont
