    Bill Shankly

I was just browsing and saw this. Incredible man and fascinating footage.

I wasn't born when he left Anfield but I remember when I was a kid, one of the things which really struck me and made me love this club is this man. His honesty is incredible.

A true man of the people.

My dad use to play 5 a side football down at Vernon Sangster Sports Centre (mid 70's) and occasionally Shanks would grace them with his presence and have a game. He'd turn up out of the blue and ask for a game - who could refuse!!!

One of the stories my dad told was that Shanks turned up one time and one of the lads who played (he was ****ing useless to put it politely) was playing particularly badly and Shanks was cajooling him etc... at the end of the game the lad had a face like a wet Echo but Shanks went over to him and put an arm round his shoulder and proceeded to wax lyrical about how if he had noticed this boy earlier he would have played for England. All the while he was saying this he was looking at the rest of the players (audience) gathered round him and winking at them (as if to say I'm having him on) and he left it at that the lad was on cloud 9

Shanks never shattered his illusions even when he turned up to other games in the future, and to this day the bloke says "Shanks said if he had got me earlier I'd have been an England international"

Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Simply the greatest. Fergie and Jose have nothing on the great man.

So many memories of when he was alive, but also I will never forget being at Anfield when the whole ground sang 'Shankly, Shankly, Shankly' in almost a whisper to the tune of Amazing Grace in remembrance of him. It sends shivers down my spine to this day.

Pair of scumbag cunts the pair of them.

Just watching Real's antics last night, Ramos and Alonso both deliberately getting themselves sent off.

****ing disgrace and all down entirely to Mourinho. No wonder people don't want him as our manager the cheating ****.

Him and Fergie don't have **** on Shanks.

"I walk down the corridor at Melwood every day and see the faces on the walls, the Champions League trophy sitting there and the quotes from Bill Shankly and it never fails to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I still have the same attitude as when I came. I want to do well. When you play for Liverpool you want to do well for the supporters and the people who are at the club. It's got that incredible passion about it." - Joe Cole

Only 68 when he passed away..

Couldn't stay away from the club and almost got in the way of Paisley..
Shame he was never offered a position on the board..

"I'd break my wife legs if I played against her, but I would never cheat her"

Jesus that's one quote to forget I think. ha ha
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
