Wilson answers mini derby call

John McMahon will call upon the services of Scotland hero Danny Wilson for tonight's mini derby at Everton - a match you can watch live online at 7pm GMT.
The defender marked his full international debut with a goal in his country's 3-0 defeat of the Faroe Islands last week and will now add some much-needed experience to McMahon's injury-hit rearguard.
Reflecting upon the 18-year-old's appearance for Craig Levein's men, the reserve team boss told Liverpoolfc.tv: "I'm really pleased for him. He's shown great potential and keeps working hard. He is getting his rewards now and I was delighted to see him gain full international honours.
"He will be available to us tonight, as will Dani Pacheco and Nathan Eccleston. But again we will have a young side. They are the only senior ones that will be available to us.
"Having said that I'm pleased with the squad we have at the moment. We have a couple of injuries in Andre Wisdom, Chris Mavinga and Nicola Saric but we know that if we play like we can we will be fine."
The second-string currently top Group B of the Barclays Premier Reserve League North, three points clear of Everton who lie second.
McMahon accepts the prospect of a Merseyside derby will add extra spice for some of his players but is determined to ensure they approach it in the right manner.
"We all know they are competitive games but we must look at it as just another big game for us," he said.
"We have to look at keeping the balance right and playing attractive football. We need to look at our shape, both in and out of possession.
"Yes the game is against our local rivals Everton but we have to look at it like it is Manchester City, Blackpool or Wigan. We must look to do the right things in every game we play.
"People will add a little bit of spice to it because it is Everton, but it's just another game for us.
"This year we have a few more local lads than in previous years, with the likes of Jack Robinson and John Flanagan. I'm sure they will want to do well for the people who are going to watch them, like their family and friends.
"I know it has a special edge to it having played in them myself, but you really have to take the focus away from it and look to perform.
"It may add a bit of extra pressure but you need to cope with that. Hopefully you can let your football do the talking and come out as the better team.
"If we play well then points and league tables will take care of themselves. For me it's all about player development and if we can keep doing that then I'll be happy."
