A big criticism of Rodgers has been that "his" Swansea team wasn't 100% his - it was a continuation of Paulo Sousa and Roberto Martinez.

Plus Swansea did a much better job of keeping the ball in midfield.

It's quite a different thing setting up a team with no expectations to finish mid-table, to coming to a side like us with far greater aspirations. And on the evidence so far, he's improved us in attack and we've got worse defensively. Up to him to sort it out.

I don't disagree with that. I am starting to wonder though if our defence needed freshening up about now anyway. I think it was bound to go stale. It going to be a huge summer for us in terms of sorting the defence out. We need a colossus of a CB. Where do we find another Hyypia?

you're right, it is. He needs to find a CB who can mark and head a ball.

I'd be tempted to blow the whole summer budget on the very best centrehalf we can buy. No idea who that is though.

When QPR get relegated is it worth going for Samba? Even if he's on £100k+ a week?

Might just be me, but in open play we look a bit more solid defensively of late. Set pieces we are just woeful

Bring in Lawrenson as a defensive coach

That line of argument is illogical or inconsistent at best.

Agger, Carra and Skrtel are Dalglish and Clark's "continuation". Surely, he can't be so bad with one lot of "continuation" but so good at another?

As for keeping the ball in midfield, well how we all wish it was Martinez who bought our players last season than Dalglish (Henderson, Downing ). Rodgers has work to be done and that is why we are a WiP and not CL challengers yet.

He'll have far fewer excuses next season.

Not sure how people can be blaming Rodgers for Agger being ****.
Agger was 5 yards too deep (which imo was down to playing with Carra) vs Man City, then lost Dzeko for his goal.
He lost RvP to a bit of standard centre forward movement for his goal.
Last night he lost McCauley, he wasn't blocked off, if anything Agger ran into the WBA player (Ollson?)
His body position when defending Lukaku was appalling but that's less important as it was 90 odd mins and we're already 1 down.

Agger also lost his man from a corner earlier in the season which cost us a goal from his man (can't remember who now)

I only presume it's Rodgers fault that Agger mised a free header when unmarked 6 yards out in front of goal in the 1st half.

We as fans have to stop ignoring what is in front of us, a lot of our senior players are 6/7/8th place PL players (Carra, Enrique, Downing for 3)
Agger, currently is one of them.

Just not convinced on Agger. I don't think he has made any less mistakes than Skrtel has this season in all honesty. He was in no-mans land for Dzeko's goal. If he is 5 yards back he could have at least cut out the cross that day. He was easily lost last night too.

This is pretty much Agger's longest ever run without an injury. Perhaps he's simply not used to playing this many games.
                          Oh I don't know.

With the more attacking game, our defenders need to be even more switched on and error-proof and I just don't think Skrtel and Agger are used to that.

They need a more battling mentality...stop the attackers at all costs.

This season he looks ****e, after imperious displays at the Euros. Last season arguably Agger & Skrtel were our best players. Skrtel player of the year. Now look at the pair of them. Coincidence?
I buy that argument in open play, but from a set-piece there's no excuse for some of the goals we've conceded this year. I've lost count of how often Agger has gambled that he can win the ball, missed it, and left his man with a free header. Our set up does leave us exposed at times, but I'll take that as the more fluid system means we create enough chances to win the game when teams park the bus as West Brom did last night. We've also seen too many basic errors from our defenders though, which needs sorting out.
