Barcelona have revived their interest in Liverpool defender Daniel Agger, as Brendan Rodgers prepares to resist another move for one of his key players.
The La Liga champions are keen to add a centre half to their ranks before the start of the season.

They have been long-term admirers of the classy Dane, having made approaches for the 28-year-old previously.

There has been no direct contact between Barcelona and Liverpool this summer, but Agger’s representatives are understood to have been sounded out about a possible move.

There is no suggestion the player is seeking to leave, Agger having consistently committed himself to Anfield in the midst of annual interest from Champions League clubs.

Agger tends to be linked with a transfer every summer. A year ago he was the subject of an £18 million bid from Manchester City, which was rejected by Liverpool who, at the time, valued the player at nearer £30 million.

The Merseyside club would not see Agger as having decreased in value since then and unless the club received a monumental offer he would not be sold.
Rodgers sees Agger as his first choice centre-back this year.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have loaned left back Jack Robinson to Blackpool for the season
