Struggling a bit fitness wise towards the end of the game, but looked better than he has over the last couple of performances.
    Great to have him back.

Noticed this a couple of times......passing behind Johnson's movement, which always led to him having to turn back. Bit too cautious, but only a minor complaint.

Was very good today. The communication thing was key - everytime you say him he was talking and pointing to the other players. Gave the back line a bit of leadership, and allowed Skertel to play on his favoured side as well.

i always seem to remember agger being the leader and skrtel being the soldier. skrtel is a very good defender, but he needs some leadership alongside him.
if he doesnt have that he can still defend, buit he isnt reading things as early, thats what agger brings. skrtel is then forced into last ditch block after block without the direction for agger.

The stats are surely no coincidence...
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Nope. It's strange because you don't really see Agger playing particularly well as an individual defender. It's the calming influence that's his main asset, he's a great organizer and he makes our other defenders better. When Toure and Skrtel play together, you notice the lack of leadership and the sense of panic.

I still think we need to change things next season, but it's nice to have Agger in there and healthy instead of Toure.

2 clean sheets in a row in the league, when was the last time that happened? Oh yeah, when he was fit at the start of the season.

7 clean sheets in 12 league games with him. 2 in 17 without him. Says it all really.

Absolutely vital to us. Everyone else played well defensively today too but he knits it all together.

Yet a fair few were ready to pension him off.

He's my favourite defender and I'd love him to see his career out here. You just gwr the feeling he's not in Rodger's long term plans

Yep. He and Skrtel are both adept at bringing the ball out of defence. If he wasn't already here then he be top of the shopping list
