This team managed a 2-1 lead apparently. Against Rochdale. Johnson and Eccleston.

The same goes for the academy. In three or four years weve had rafa hodgson kenny and now rodgers as the manager all with their own styles of playing. How annoying it must be for rodolfo and pep to be continuously changing the style of play and the tactical approach to football at academy level. Theres been four tactical approaches in four years.

I understand that the academy has to play the same style as the first team but manager merry go rounds can really make things very hard for academy directors to produce players ready for the first team.

Fsg have given rodgers a carte blanche. If he makes a balls up of this we could be in a much bigger mess than when hodgson was here
        all this...
for me the DoF was crucial to ensure stability and continuity of a plan.
lets hope we dont regret not allowing LVG to bring in his protégée as manager/coach, with LVG doing all the planning, negotiations, academy, etc.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Game abandoned after 55 minutes due to a serious injury to a Rochdale player. He was rushed to A&E for an immediate operation to his ankle; the player in question has tweeted his thanks.

I hope there are a few more of the first team playing in that match..

Judging by that Europa game, I'd say a few more could do with the fitness test..

Reece, He has the same name as you.

Liverpool played a behind closed doors friendly with Rochdale at Melwood on Sunday afternoon, but the game was abandoned after a serious injury to Rochdale player Reece Gray.

Gray was taken to accident and emergency where he will undergo an ankle operation. He wrote on his twitter to say thanks to the LFC staff.

“Cant thank all the club doctors/physio’s enough that were on hand too assist me 2day at melwood… Really appreciate it #firstclass” he wrote.

Liverpool were leading the game 2-1 at the time of the injury, courtesy of goals from Glen Johnson and Nathan Eccleston.

The game had been arranged to help Daniel Agger with his match fitness, as explained by boss Brendan Rodgers on Friday.

The match also gave Pepe Reina his first action since returning to pre-season training later than any other players following Spain’s run to the Euro 2012 Final. While Lucas made his first start and Andy Carroll also started the game.

Reina, Johnson, Kelly, Agger, Robinson and we conceded a goal against Rochdale..

Methinks some more closed door game time might be needed...

Here is a player that symbolizes what loyalty is all about.

Never moans, never bitches, never complains

Prime role model in every way and clearly expressed his interest in staying.

                    He gets us.

And instead of renewing his contract we are contemplating the thought of selling him for the "right" price.

We should not sell our best players no matter what..

If he is happy to renew his contract and we are attempting to sell to raise money, it also sends a big message to the rest of the squad. While I appreciate the principle of no one is bigger than the club, loyalty runs two ways. If we sell Agger this summer, even though he does not really want to move, and then Suarez starts agitating for a move next summer, we cant really complain or play the loyalty card can we.

I would hold off until next season, if FIFA 12 is anything to go buy we'll be able to sell him for 34Mil

Although i still didnt sell him.

Really don't want to see Agger leave

This is ridiculous. If we're selling Agger to raise funds to buy the likes of Allen because we can't get money for Carroll then serious questions need to be asked.

I'll be pretty disgusted if we sell Agger. Just another world class player to be sold each window for the last few years consecutively. Unless they are offering ridiculous money, i mean really ridiculous it shouldn't even be entertained.
