I was in Oslo at the weekend and watched Denmarks game against Norway. Agger did well, not a real stand out performance. Denmark play great football and what a craker Romendhal scored. Poulsen was his usual self and they substituted their captain in the second half. Fantastic Agger's been released from the squad.

That should go on his headstone when he dies. "Christian Poulsen - subsituted in the 2nd half"
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

We were linked with him under Rafa years back weren't we? Bit of a prospect if I remember rightly and I think he even said that he'd like to play alongside Agger at club-level too.Originally posted by Darkon View Postyeah, Simon Kjær - ah really good defender as well, we have a solid partnership there.
Sure I read last year that his form has dipped a fair amount though. Any thoughts at all Darkon? Is that true?

I remember us being linked with him under Rafa and I was quite excited at the time. He played very well for Palermo in the Serie A and showed a lot of talent at the time.
His form for Wolfsburg last season was not impressive - but then again the whole team was **** only just managing to survive in the Bundesliga (after being champions 2 season before that). It's hard to judge a players qualities in a team that doesn't function and have a poor form for an entire season. He was new at the club and as such easy to point fingers at.
I reckon he will be back to his best soon, and he played well against Scotland yesterday. He is still only 22, a young age for a CB, so he will still develop.

Only 22?! Crikey - seems he's been around for years so I assumed that he was 25-26 by now.
Do you think he'd be worth a punt for us?

Good question, he could challenge for the first team squad already and I rate him higher than Skrtle and Kyriagos (later hardly a surprise), but he is still somewhat behind Agger IMO. Carragher to me is still the heart of our defense and he organizes it very well.
But Kjær would be an apt sub for Agger when injured, because he is good at playing the ball forward as well (not quite the standard of Agger though) and we know he forms a good partnership with him. But I think he would be fairly expensive and not happy for long on the bench, so hard to say for me.
If we can find someone good that would be happier talking the bench role, I'd say it would be a better choice right now. When Carragher gets pushed out of the starting XI, then perhaps.
