They were bound to create chances as we did all the attacking.

I don't think it's as much of a problem as it was before. Isn't he out with a fractured/broken rib? - That's not a recurring problem like his previous injuries, that's just unlucky and part and parcel of the game. He'd played 21 of our 25 PL games before today.Originally posted by cream View PostHope we sort the Agger issue out this summer, if he can't be relied upon then buy someone with similar qualities. Cara is finished, at fault for both goals. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Isnt this the wrong way roundOriginally posted by CJ View Postagger is class
skrtel sometimes looks worse because he switches sides in defence to partner carra.
he obviously plays better on the left.
does he play on the left with coates?
Agger normally plays on the left so that puts Skrtel on the right
When Carragher replaces Agger, Skrtel is often moved to the left
Although Skrtel played on the right in the last game but thats the first time in a long time I've noticed thatBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Not really; playing with Carragher means Skrtel has to do more than his own job. If Agger was paired with Carrager I'm sure his (Agger's) performance would dip compared to being paired with Skrtel.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostWhen is Agger due back from injury?
Martin Skrtel has been getting all the plaudits the season due to some improved and commanding performances. But I think recent weeks have shown who the true leader and real bedrock of our back 4 is.

Possibly, but I think the point I am getting at is that though Skrtel's performances have been laudable, the real cornerstone to our defence is Agger. I think Aggers performances have been overlooked in favour of Skrtels (to an extent) this season because whereas Skrtel has shown a marked improvement. Agger has been solid and dependable as ever, and I think could and has proved to be able to cope playing with Carragher more than Skrtel has. He has been sorely missed (as dare I say it has Glen Johnson, whose attacking thrust has been badly missed in recent weeks as well).Originally posted by BootRoom View PostNot really; playing with Carragher means Skrtel has to do more than his own job. Looking at the squad as it stands I see guys like Agger, and possibly Lucas as future captains of the team.Modifying post.

BUT things like Newcastles first goal that was basic elementary ****e defending
When Carragher plays the rest of the back four comes under more pressure and scrutiny
Skrtel seems to fold under pressure because hes been making basic errors in the last few weeks and using the excuse of Carragher is only part of it imoBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

When Agger leads the defence he is much calmer, and so is the rest of our defence as a result of this.
plus, not just the shouting but his game has deterioated so much IMO over the past 12 months that the other defenders are just nervous playing with him as the added repsonsibilty is on their shoulders to cover him.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.
